Experiment on Expecting mothers

They did an experiment in England on 100 expectant mothers with a sample of music played to the womb, and once each child was born, the same music was played to the newborn when they were crying....

The results were that the 100 babies that were pre-exposed to the music, stopped crying when the same music was played!

I have convinced my wife (my loving wife) that our 'song' to calm our newborn has to be a Pearl Jam song, but have 3 months to choose the certain 'calming' influence....

A few thoughts:

Black (my favourite song of all time)
Oceans
but I think I am leaning towards
DRIFTING

Let me know,

Brian

great idea. i wouldn't take "black" though. i mean it's such an emotional song, it makes people cry and then your child stops crying when hearing it. that would be a little bit weird. haha.
i would go for something with a more positive note.

We used the 'it's okay' cover for our kids. Not in utero, but afterwards, at least.
    Good luck!
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
  • This is a great thing to do! :D A friend of mine is also doing the same. Him and his girlfriend are playing a variety of music (including PJ :D) to their unborn, due in October. It's gonna be interesting to see the results :) I decided a long time ago that when I have children they're gonna be played music in utero... Better Man and What's The Frequency, Kenneth? being firm favourites ;)

I recommend Oceans or Black - especially if it's your favourite song of all time :)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

My kids have listened to excellent music since the womb (PJ :))
The result? 4 kids with awesome taste in music....Even my teenagers have a deep and lasting love for Pearl Jam, AIC and lots of other great stuff. When I hear what most of their mates are playing it makes me so relieved that they have developed such discerning tastes so early on :)
