I was at the Neil Young show in Halifax the other night and Wilco opened for him, they were really good. I was wondering what albums to get for someone who is just getting started with this band. Any suggestions? Thanks
Things were different then. All is different now.
I tried to explain. Somehow.

Good call. it's a fantastic live (double) album that covers a lot of their career. it also makes a few less accessible songs easier to digest.
I might take the latest, Sky Blue Sky, as a first studio album. Very mature, clean album.
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is considered the Wilco "masterpiece."
My favorite is Summerteeth, more of a straight up pop album.
The first two, AM and Being There, are great, but closer to Tweedy's alt-country roots going back to Uncle Tupelo.
A Ghost Is Born is very good, but by far my least favorite.
