[...AnyONE Use Any Cool Credit Cards?] sorry...

Looking at my first credit card...for small purchases such as gas and so on, just to kind of build some sort of credit up, or to pay for tickets on a monday while i'm waiting to get paid on friday, etc. Basically really safe because I've heard enough horror stories.

Anyways, anyone have a cool credit card that lets them like, get plane tickets free/discounted, hotels discounted, etc? Or anything interesting and worthwhile. Or do these not work like this?

I know AmEx has a shitload of benefits, but I don't have one. I only have a citibank debit card which works fine, since I always make sure I have money in my bank account anyway.

I have AmEx-the points are good and bad. The good- I flew to Hawaii on those points. 75000 points for 2 round trip tickets. Well worth it. The bad, using it for Ticketmaster or other entertainment. I wanted to go to see the Lion King. I thought that with 2100 points I could get a couple of tickets. Wrong. It was 200 pt for every dollar. So the tickets came up to $220, which equals 42000 points. Not a good value. There are deals but you have to look for them.

Still, AmEx is good to build up the credit.

    I use this:

It comes in handy when traveling around for PJ tour season. ;)

I'll catch you one day! Why slide, when you can poke!

What interests you? There's quite a few rewards programs out there these days with many interests, such as sports, nightlife, skymiles, etc.

Hm, I guess I would have to say skymiles, not sure though. I appreciate the advice though, as I don't know anyone in person that has any credit cards with benefits and such.

I use Alaska Airlines credit card from Bank of America. It's 1 mile per dollar and they don't expire. They also have lots of airline partners. We've flown business class to Europe and all over the US. I charge everything I can and pay it off at the end of the month. :)

There are debit cards that give rewards. I recommend one of those over a credit card. Don't get caught in the credit trap.
