Many of you probably don't realize, but there's a big bad hurricane bearing down on Houston tonight. Right now we have strong winds but no rain. But it's coming. We should see the heaviest stuff in about six hours or so. We (all of us) could use your good vibes and thoughts as we weather this storm. I know there are several Pit members that live in this area. Although I've never met any personally, I wish the best for you and your loved ones. It's gonna get really crazy around here.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows...it's all over the news.

My mom went to San Antonio but my dad is still there. I think H-Town will be okay, but Galveston will be fucked up.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I'm about 50 miles outside Houston and if "the current models" are correct - we may see Cat 1 winds sustained from early Sat. morning well into the afternoon. I think we are prepared as best as possible with lots of non-perishable food and water. The worst part will be when we lose power. The long, boring and often scary wait to see when your grid will get repaired!

Thanks again for the good wishes and hope to be posting again by Sunday afternoon!

    Peace.
I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.
  • I heard a report today that the National Weather service issued a report that said those who refused to evacuate Galveston faced "certain death"

The only benefit was seeing Geraldo Rivera get wiped out

By the way, get gas ASAP. I've heard in a few different places that gas will jump 50 to 75 cents per gallon by no later than Monday.

Due to overwhelming response I will give you all a quick update. I can't speak for the other area members affected by Ike but we were spared major damage. We had branches all over the place and the fence came down, but the house looked to be mostly okay. We're still without power and so we're staying with friends that live a little more west and never lost power. But a lot of people don't have power or water, especially to the south. If any of you want to help, you can donate to the Red Cross and specify you want your money going towards the victims of Hurricane Ike. Like I said, a whole lot of people still need all the help they can get.
