Anyone watching this? I'm surprised it hasn't been discussed already. Another brilliant mini-series by HBO. Paul Giamotti and Laura Linney knock it out of the park. Do yourselves a favor and Tivo this. Parts I and II have already aired, and they're playing them repeatedly this week. I think there are seven total parts. Especially with the lack of any decent new shows on right now, this mini-series is the best thing on TV. Part I follows John Adams as a lawyer, acting as the defense for the British soldiers involved in the Boston massacre. From what I read in the years after graduating high school this is the most accurate portrayal of this famous historical event.

i finished watching both parts about an hour ago and was thinking how good this is and how good paul giamatti is.

I'm fond of period pieces so this works for me; it's really well done. But the pox thing kind of....no, it completely creeped me out.

George Washington's make up was fantastic. By the eyes, I could tell who the actor was, but the complete facial make up was just fantastic.

they did a good job on washington. i thought i knew who it was, but changed my mind because of the nose. then i realized it was a fake nose.

there is one actor on there i think isnt doing a very good job. its the one who says he will "NEVER" agree. and then goes outside with adams to talk about it.

So much for South Carolina because, unlike him, I completely agree.

Watching my episodes on TiVo right now.

So far, this is excellent! I think HBO has had some of the best television programs available in recent years.

I would love to, but don't have HBO! Will definitely be renting this. Paul Giamatti is awesome.

This show is AWESOME! I'm a history nut to begin with, so I definitely love this show. The innoculation creeped me out as well- I had to turn away from the TV- but it was definitely interesting to see how they did it.

Any fans of The Tudors around here?

I liked the 2 episodes. HBO usually has good quality programs. I need a break from all the reality shit that's on tv.

Excellent show, and by the far the most realistic portrayal of the time period I have seen in any film.

The scene where they showed that British guy get tarred and feathered was pretty brutal; they actually made you feel bad for him
And before his first step... He's off again...

There are some historical inconsistancies with the depection of the trial. The british captain was tried seperately. And in the soldiers' trial most were found not guilty, but two were found guilty. The guilty two had their sentences reduced to manslaughter by some clever legal manovering by Adams. I wish they would have kept the actual story, its more interesting but the narrative must have been too encumbering for the writer of the miniseries.

outside of sports, this was the first show the wifey and i caught together and both thought it was excellent. watched it last night. and isn't it ironic that the dude playing ben franklin also played cornwalis in 'the patriot'?
I love to turn you on
