This one is soooo cute. He looks like he's playing it safe . . . one foot in . . . one foot out the window. Call him Ninja, for his stealthy moves.

    Cheers!

You should. I was thinking exactly that when I saw the picture of him scaling the wall. I was just too lazy to post it.

Oh, and your squirrels seem smaller than ours here in Idaho. They are everwhere here in the city of trees (Boise) and cats won't even dream of fucking with them.

this is a residential ground squirrel who lives off scraps and garbage and sunflower seeds, hes having a rough time. not like our stanley park squirrels, they are very taken care of.

this is the second one ive been feeding....i fed a grey one for a day and then the next morning he was flat as a pancake on the road. :)

    rough life for RGS's.

....that reminds me. So, I have this work truck (an 05 F350 4x4 1 ton). I leave all my field gear in there along with snacks (trail mix). A week and half ago, I noticed that a mouse had torn into the trailmix. I set a live mouse trap in there, this morning I caught my fourth mouse, I put the mouse (still in the trap) in the back of my personal truck. Went to Slave Lake this morning and forgot about him. While leaving Slave, I remembered about the poor little fella in the trap. I pulled over on the HWY and opened the trap and dropped him near the ditch. He/she proceeds to run out of the ditch and onto the middle of the HWY where he decides to sit motionless. There is a large raven sitting by the side of the road sniffing around the roadside garbage can. I pull away and look through my rearview mirror and I watch as the Raven flies up and swoops down on the mouse.....felt kinda bad for the mouse but he shouldnt have sat in the middle of the road. Laws of nature at its finest I say!

Very cute. :) We end up with all kinds of wildlife in our house thanks to our cats and dog. We've had bunnies, squirrels, moles, and once a chipmunk. It took two of us 45 minutes to catch that sucker! I wish someone could have taped it as it was hilarious. We couldn't stop laughing while it was climbing us and the walls all around our house. Luckily (I guess) our animals don't ever kill anything, they just want to play with them. :)

This is true, I didnt WANT to kill him...that is why I spent extra on the live trap, for sure he was disoriented and was trying to get his bearings, however, unfortunate for him that Raven was there and ate him. You can pretty much guarentee it happened quickly and he didnt feel much.

Your not far off ...this couple we know use to feed squirrels that came to their house family regularly until the squirrels decided to make it a more permanent arrangement ....gnawing into a couch and setting up a nest, they also had significant damage done to the insulation in their attic and a hefty little bill to have the vermin removed! so be careful they may look all cute and cuddly now but at the end of the day they are now different than a bushy tailed rat!

Call him...Scritt (after the Squirrel thing from Ice Age -- and that thing reminds us of Remy!). And I think having a RGS coming to your window is a bit safer than a black bear (although that would be cool).

PS. Squirrels in our part of the world don't carry rabies. Distemper maybe, but no rabies.
