Your organization has the "great" distinction of LOSING a

SuperBowl in the LAST THREE decades. In the 80's you got

crushed by the Chicago Bears. Then,in the 90's the Green Bay

Packers handled you pretty well. Finally,in the 00's you get

ambushed by the New York Giants. Just a pleasant reminder

to all you smug new englanders.

Sincerely,

Remember, the New York Giants held the second greatest offense in history to ZERO points (vikings) and now they held the greatest O in history to 14.....in the superbowl!

    Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-haw!!!!!

Looks like your dirty, rotten, classless coach and team aren't the greatest ever. In fact, because of this loss, they're not even in the conversation.

Don't worry, Patriots fan. When your team starts sucking again -- and really, who doesn't hope this is the end of the Pats -- you can crawl back into your holes and leave the N.F.L. to real football fans.

While I do despise eli, given that he graduated from a terrible university, the LAST person to talk about absolute bullshit luck is a NE Pats fan. Need I remind you about a never before heard of rule known as the Tuck Rule (aka..."the NFL wants to fuck the Raiders over rule"), the Rams deciding not to give Marshall Faulk the ball, John Kasay shanking kicks, McNabb puking, Chargers trying to run Brady picks back two years in a row, Drew Bennett dropping a pass on the 15 from Steve McNair, refs hiding their flags while your CBs abused the Colts receivers, Randy Moss landing in your laps for a 4th round pick, Asante Samuel deciding to come back, the Dolphins handing you Wes Welker, the 4 different times you could have lost this season (Colts dropping a pick, A.J. Feely finally remembering who he is, the first Giants game, and lets not forget the absolute bullshit luck known as the Ravens MNF game).

Notice I haven't even alluded to the fact that much of the previously mentioned could all be absolute bullshit (no luck) if the NFL finally let's us know what was on those video tapes. So yes you were the better team but please don't cry about luck.

i'm going to blame this on the high of a super bowl victory, but the only team from NY taking anything from the Red Sox next year isn't going to be the Yankees...at this rate they will be lucky to make the playoffs....don't forget the Blue Jays made a charge late season when they were healthy. In two years however, maybe...

    Dear New York Giants,

Congratulations on your win in Super Bowl XLII. It was truly a great win, your defense held the Patriots to just 14 points by constantly penetrating a tough offensive line.

Thank you for being one of the teams to play in one of the greatest Super Bowls I have ever witnessed. It runs a close 2nd place to Super Bowl XXXVI for me.

    Yours smugly,
A New England Patriot, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics Fan

So yes, we're smug. But no more than New York Yankees fans, no more than Montreal Canadian fans, no more than LA Lakers fans.....all teams that have won numerous championships and have handily beat New England teams in years past. Take a look at the responses to threads here regarding our loss last night. The majority of responses from Patriots fans are far from smug and have the class to say we were beat by a better team in a great, great game last night.
believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

Luck was rampant on both sides, pal. A phantom first down for NE on their first possession of the game when Faulk was clearly one or two yards short of the first down marker. And, two missed illegal contact calls against the Giants where they were raping Welker coming across the middle.

What was it, four false starts against the NE line? They were on their heels the whole game waiting for NY to bust through and get to Brady. That's not luck.

NE just got punked. Plain and simple. They've still got three rings in the last seven years, but immortality takes a lot more than luck.

Well stated. I may be a Sox and Celtics fan but I'm not a Pats fan. I am a Redskins fan and it pained me to pull for the Giants. I pulled for the Pats in their previous Super Bowls just to root for Boston but this year I just couldn't do it. I can't stand Belichick and Brady has gotten a bit to cocky in my opinion. Great game though.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

my fault...i just read your baseball post. I am MOST DEFINITELY not a Sawx fan. Brewers all the way here baby. I'm just saying, last year while doing my dissertation research on the Sox, I saw about 30 games in person and they are a really friggin good baseball team.

The only "luck" was that they didn't get beat down worse.

Please explain at what point exactly the Giants were lucky.

And if you try to say the 3rd and 5 play then you're outta your mind.

  • Please. Because Bellichick is smug, the fans of the Pats and the Pats themselves are too? Brady is a class act week in and week out, and labeling the entire region smug is as ignorant as saying the Devil Rays will win the World Series. So you don't like Bellichick, but his smugness doesn't rub off on the rest of the team. They play as a team, don't cause controversy off the field, and when it all is said and done, Tom Brady doesn't let the limelight distract him. He didn't play great last night but he still has three rings to his credit.

That's really the point. I'm sure he would have wanted to go for perfection but at the end of the day that cat is a champion and that can't be taken away. Well, unless they try to after the Spygate hearings, but I wouldn't worry about that

EXACTLY! pjscreamer and stickboy (on this board) are both my friends and both from NY. I'm surprised I haven't heard from stickboy yet on the Giants win. I'm not an avid baseball follower but my love goes to my hometown Sox so pjscreamer & I get into it. I couldn't help but give him shit since his Yankees lost this past season.

Regardless, I am looking forward to baseball season but....I'll be counting the days until Patriots training camp starts!

  • Yes ha ha ha ha ha, New England you lost. In the last 12 years, you've been to 5 Super Bowls, and won three of them. Ha ha ha ha ha. I only wish the Bills could suck as much as you.

I think New York fans AND Boston fans are smug. I love hearing one say that to the other. I especially love how the Red Sox (and their fans) bitch about the Yankees being a greedy organization who takes advantage of their limitless resources.
