new thing i hate!

you know what drives me crazy? fucking bells in restaurants/fast food joints. you know, those stupid bells that customers ring when they are pleased with the service.

here i am trying to relax on my lunch break, but every five minutes some jackass is ringing the bell, usually with kids ringing it over and over. And then the poor service workers are forced to scream thank you, but everyone knows they are just doing it because they dont want to get fired.

and now they are everywhere. every new place has a stupid bell!

what is wrong with people these days!?

    Houston. at first it was just at casual restaurants, then it was at newer chain places, now its even in the Taco Bell down the street. its spreading like the plague. i guess they think its cute or something.

    Do you watch Curb Your Enthusiasm? When Larry was going to invest in that restaurant he suggested customers ring bells. But the idea was poo-pooed for the reason you are describing.

    Where are these restaurants with bells? :eek:

    ya i used to work in a kitchen and all the workers there rang the bell and you have to go out and serve them then you return and totally loose focus and sometimes forget what you were doing or what needed to be done!

    though never happened in my lunchbreak as we took our breaks inbetween serving hours.

    Suburban Houston actually. well maybe its just a local thing. reason #543452 why i hate living here.

    or the bell taint hasnt spread to your city yet.

    I noticed your location - see mine?? It appears we are from the same state. I'm actually about 90 miles away from you in College Station! No bells here, just massive amounts of right wingers.

    a&w has these. i'm from texas too so maybe its a local thing.

    I'd forgotten what a great expression 'bird brain' is! I will use it at the first opportunity.

    I bet they have it at Cici's pizza - do they? I remember it being a somewhat raucous place. (I'm from Houston, and my Dad used to take us there all the time)
