Found a ferret, now what?

Found a ferret walking in the road last night. Posted on the CT web site for found and lost pets and called animal patrol, who does not have any room for the animal at this time.
Besides putting up some signs what should I do? Never had a ferret before, he seems pretty happy hanging out in a big plastic tote but can not keep him. Gave him some dry cat food and some people food and letting him run amuck for a few hours at a time.
Any suggestions?
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

  • If you don't want to keep it, maybe you could sell it?

It sounds tame enough... just advertise that you found it, can't find it's owner, comes without cage etc...

Now you teach it to become an attack ferret! You keep it inside your coat at all times and if anyone ever messes with you - BAM! ferret to the face.

Google "Ferret Rescue" and see if there is one in your area. They make wonderful pets, but are a lot of work and can get into a lot of trouble. Good luck! :)

  • I like how they sleep. And when they are jumping around they are fun.

I'm not sure, but maybe you need to set up a litter box for it? It needs somewhere to relieve itself not on your carpet.

p.s I wish I could take it, but I have too many pets already.
