Going to GA to see a show at the Lakeview in Atlanta. Anyone know of a pretty good hotel in the area? So far I have looked at the Hiltons by the airport. One is twice the price as the other. Looking for something reasonable but not a dump.
Thanks in advance!

Hmm I'm not sure. I did not live in atlatna years ago and came into town and stayed at teh days inn on Martin luther king (i think that was the road it was on) near lakewood.

DO NOT STAY THERE. The night before we got there someone kicked the window of the front office in and stole the phone and we got propositioned by nasty nasty nasty hookers for drugs and tricks.

Lakewood is a bad area hopefully someone who knows it better can give you better advice.

I live on the oppisite side of town and only go down there if a show is playing. I usually go right there and come right back. Sorry i can't be of more help

Lakewood is not a great area. You're better off staying at the Airport or at a nice hotel downtown. Hotels are more expensive but you'll be glad you made the choice. Crime in Atlanta is pretty bad in the city. Moved from there a year ago and crime was bad when I left. Probably worse now.

You might be better off staying downtown. If you take a cab, it is going to cost more than staying near the airport, but most hotels have a shuttle service to "attractions". The Hilton at the airport is nice, we have stayed there. However, just last week there was a shooting, or a robbery, or something scary there. Ah, hell. I guess it could happen to anyone, anywhere.

I would say as long as you are staying at one of the nicer hotels--Hilton, Marriott, etc. you will be fine. Just don't go walking around Virginia Avenue, Cleveland Avenue, etc.

Sorry to totally contradict myself there.
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Thanks, I have heard the same from others. Not a good area, stay by the airport ect...looks like the way to go.
Hilton @ airport is still looking like the best.
