I would want both on my team but if i had to choose i would have to go with Alex, he can score, pass and is very physical all over the ice as for Sid the kid he can only pass and score hes not veri intimadating.
I'll be in the neighborhood later on, and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to get some frozen yogurt, or perhaps a whole meal of food, if that would be agreeable. Damnit.

I like watching ovechkin more than crosby. both are phenomenal but AO has that passion and dynamite factor. its a special time for the league to have both these guys playing the way they play.

for long term i would take crosby on my team.

did anyone keep in mind crosby missed over a quarter of the season? i'll take him over a.o. any day. i'll take malkin over a.o. any day. please tell me you have a good argument for his whining. because he doesn't. apparently you don't watch hockey.

    AO anyday !

That dude is a beast !

I love his style of play......would take that style over Crysby anyday

What AO needs is some help around him

I think the Flyers are exposing that this series

It's not even the points for me or the whining factor

    It's the style of play

    I like physical style players

I'm looking at total time in the league not just this season... and Ovie it is. I'd take Malkin over Crosby, him and Ovie are just better suited to play the tough grinding type of Atlantic division and Eastern Conference hockey.

  • Ovi any day...I go to school outside of DC, so I get to see him play a lot. He's not a little bitch like Crosby, he actually lays people out, he can make moves, and he can shoot the puck harder than crosby. The only thing Crosby has on Ovi, is that Crosby plays better D....but Ovi is a god

I think Crosby is more of a complete player, and does a better job of making players around him better. And defensively, plays a better game (but that might be more of the nature of the center position).

Either way, you can't go wrong picking Crosby, AO, or even Malkin anywhere in the top 3. I'm just happy that after some off years, that this league has so many legitimate young superstars and many rising stars. It sort of reminds me of the mid-80's.

Crosby's a great playmaker, but he's also a whiny bitch. I'll go with Ovechkin, the most exciting player in the league.

    March 2006- NY Daily News

When asked to compare Crosby and Ovechkin last week, Senators winger Daniel Alfredsson told an Ottawa newspaper, "(Ovechkin) doesn't get frustrated if he gets hit . . . He gets up and keeps playing. Not like (Crosby), who starts crying. I think there's a big difference in the attitude." Crosby is definitely a yapper, as anyone who has ever listened to one of the TV broadcasts where the young Penguins star has been miked can attest. His mouth got him into trouble in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Devils at the Meadowlands, when Crosby complained to the referees about a non-call and served two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

    April 2007- ESPN

A member of the Senators organization told ESPN.com early in the series that he thought Crosby should have been born during The Great Depression, "because then he'd have known what it was to have had something to really whine about. It's embarrassing."

Harsh? Perhaps. But after being seen carping to on-ice officials on a regular basis in the front half of the series, Crosby abruptly began to hold his tongue. A source said he had heard Crosby's landlord, Mario Lemieux, suggested Crosby tone down his contact with officials. Maybe Crosby figured it out on his own.

Regardless, whatever prompted the change, it was an important step in Crosby's education. NHL officials have said Crosby was much less prone to complaining during the regular season than in his rookie season.

i don't see how whining is an issue ... tim duncan is a huuuge whiner! ... anyone would like that guy on your team!

anyways i'll choose crosby over ovechkin only because he's more of a playmaker ... AO is a scorer ...
  • RygarRygar Posts: 8,685
I think the two are closer than most people would apparently like to think.
Crosby's a better team-playmaker but Ovechkin seems to have more force to him.

ummm... maybe in his rookie year, but he has come a LONG way, but hasn't shaken the reputation. I guess it will just take some more time. Gretzky was one of the biggest whiners that i've ever seen, but eventually people stopped complaining about that I guess.

I would probably take Ovechkin at this point in time, BUT I would probably take Crosby for the long run. Crosby has more playmaker ability and potential.

BTW, has anyone else seen the sick moves of Pavel Datsyuk so far???? Too bad the rest of the Wings have looked like crap the last two games. If he could develop his leadership skills, he would be talked about just as much.

Yeah, I haven't seen him (Datsyuk) play many games, but he has some sweet moves. That laser shot that he scored on in the beginning of the 3rd period in game #2 (i think) was sick. From what I've seen of him, I just don't know if he can take control of a game like the superstars can.

    Crosby for sure.
Anyway, Ovechkin will be forgotten about 2 days from now.

This question would be a lot easier to answer if the Caps were not getting smacked around by Philly and we got to see them go head to head in the playoffs next round.

They wouldn't play Pittsburgh next round if they won.

if the caps won and montreal won, pittsburgh would play washington and montreal would play the rangers (or devils).
