I am looking to volunteer some of my time. I am looking at possibly the Ronald McDonald house. Do any of you volunteer your time? and if so, where? Any recomendations? I am pretty busy during the week, so i figured I would want something i could do on sat and/or sunday... Looks like Ronald McDonald wants at least 6 hrs/ month... Which I could do easilly.

Ronald McDonald House good place... here are mine and some other thoughts:

    humane society

    local "peace" club

    boys and girls club

    local food pantry

local thrift store whom donates money specifically back into your community

    Girl/Boy Scouts of America

ps... check out pj's activism page has alot of people who need your time...

Duh, why didn't I think of that? Thanks for all your suggestions... Boys and Girls club sounds like it might be really good. Do you have experiences volunteering at these places? What should I expect?

expect for one.. if your dedicated.. they are gonna want more than 6 hours...

food shelter/thrift store... good... spend alot of time "shoveling" sorting items like clothes , furniture, food... good if you dont like attachemnt... walk in-walk out

places where you be working with kids be prepared to get attached... but if you have something to offer a kid like mentoring... a good thing

*giggles* same with the humane society... there you can take animals for walks, clean cages or foster an abused animal

local peace club... be prepared to do alot of paperwork

My church's outreach to the poor and the Salvation Army. Distributing the Angel Tree gifts to the parents really gets me in the Christmas spirit.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
