I am a painter on the side. Working on a collection that I am going to have a website for. All watercolors of urban architecture.

and I just re-read the topic and realized we are talking about painting houses.. haha.. way to read the first go around. Yeah, I am not a house painter, but an artist. I did paint my loft though.. if that counts.

    Hi, you called ;)
Painting can be fun, it's all about perspective.
Call me next time you need some work doing, I'll do a special rate ;)
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Yeah I think the color your world stuff does suck that much even at that price. It's something like Behr paint at home depot. Really crappy paint.

I kind of like painting my house :) I've gotten really good at edges to where I don't even tape, which saves hours. I actually just redecorated my bathroom. Scraped off 3 layers of wall paper (the bottom layer being from the 70's), 3 layers of floor tiles and a few plastic wall covers. Sanded, spackled, sanded, painted, laid new tiles, put up beadboard, trim, new lighting, new sink...voila! Still need new tub/shower walls, but that'll have to wait! I had a blast doing all of this! I like home stuff. I moved into this place a year ago, but then went away on work for a long time. Now I'm back and finally making it into my home. Turned one bedroom into a study. (More sanding, spackling, sanding, painting..building giant bookshelves...) I also learned how to fix giant cracks that form between ceilings and walls.

As for expensive paint...I bought a giant bucket of off white from Lowe's that I used on most of my house for about $60, worked fine, looks great! For my bathroom, I was walking around Walmart and noticed the clearance rack where people return paint (mostly for not liking the color, etc), bought a gallon for $7, looks fantabulous!

I can get talking about this stuff. hgtv is the best channel ever.

i LOVE painting! we've been in our home 11.5 years, and i've painted and repainted, almost every room 2x. love to change it up, one of the cheapest/easiest ways of freshening up your space. i've done color-washes, sponging, rag-rolling, etc. bit tired of the 'effects' lately, so we *just* redid our LR and hall in february.

as cutback said, prepwork sucks....but the actual painting, FUN...and the end results....SOOOO worth it! besides, my husband is GREAT at painting edges w/o tape...so he does that. ;)

so hereya go, LR this past xmas, walls were rag-rolled:

    grazie. :)

i just love home projects. we hadn't done any in quite a long while, so it was fun to start a few up again. so sure, like to show off the handiwork. :p

*btw - i am no *pro*....although i was an art teacher and studied design if that counts? :o haha. my mother was very 'handy', did all the painting in our house, thus how i first learned. as i got older, just got interested, and learned so much on my own by books and experimentation. :)
