Birdwatching
Rhinocerous Surprise

So I'm sitting here in the computer lab in college, and I'm not getting anything done cos it's such a fucking beautiful day outside, and I keep getting distracted by the birds flying and poking around outside. It's mesmerising.
Anyone else into birdwatching? I used to do it a lot as a kid, cos my entire family's really into it, but I kinda grew out of it around 10 years ago. But right now, I'm looking outside, and wondering if there's anything more beautiful than watching a pied wagtail just hovering around.
*prepares for onslaught of "birdwatching = girlwatching" puns*

Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

I love those pics.
For me, that's nature at its most beautiful. There's something so free about birds... so energetic, yet they never really seem to move faster than they have to...
I need sleep.
I also totally expected a good slagging over how absolutely innocent and non-cynical this thread is.

I know what you mean. I'm taking my own thread slightly off-topic here, but a few months ago, me and a friend were wandering around the old Maynooth campus, and we found this little garden... just perfectly tended to, flowers everywhere, and trees that looked like they were made to have people reading books under them. So we went in and had a look around, and found a group of squirrels, just poking around the place. We sat there for about half an hour, just taking pictures of everything that caught our eye.
And missed an English lecture to do it.
Those are some Great Tits!
Note: they're actually Blue Tits.

If only we got more of a summer to enjoy days like that. Student gripe: summer always happens when exams are on.

I fear if Hitch gets excited about Blue Tits, the robin red breast will be the death of this thread.
Also: you're htting 29,000 posts. Congrats!

"Look at those tits, right near the pussywillow!"
Nature is great.
Back on topic though. I love the crow family. Where I used to live there was a samll wooded area behind my house where rooks and ravens and such nested. Occasionally babies would fall into our back garden when learning to fly. We had quite a few temporary pet rooks over the years
We used to have a pet budgie. When I was about... 5, I think, it got some disease that was slowly killing it. :( The night I found out about it, three other budgies flew into our back garden! And we kept one as a pet, first as a companion for the other one, and then on its own.
It was so weird to have THREE budgies just fly in randomly like that.

No, I saw all that myself. It's one of those memories that never really faded.
"Forgive every being,
the bad feelings
it's just me"
Budgies will inherit the earth. I had a budgie called Barney. He was a genius, and my best friend.
Great pics.
They're excellent beasts. Whenever I get off my ass and move out of the family house, I'm gonna get another budgie.
The frigatebirds and boobies were easy ... The petrels and terns, not so much.
