Anyone read any of these books? I only heard about them the other day.

I read Twilight on the weekend and really liked it! I can tell why so many teenage girls have fallen in love with it. Thoughts?

Now I'm onto New Moon. Hope the Twilight movie is good! :)

I saw a clip of the movie on tv the other day and it said the books had been in the best seller lists for 42 weeks straight or something like that and were VERY popular (even though I'd never heard of them). I'm interested in vampires so thought I'd give them a go.

I actually listened to the audio book instead of reading them because I'm doing a lot of computer work on a project at the moment and don't get much time to read.

  • A friend told me about the series many months ago and has persisted in asking me if read the books yet. I did some research and felt that the series sounded a bit frivolous to me and targeted more toward the teen genre.

Well, I found myself in Target a few weeks ago and walked past the book display. I picked up "Twilight" and read the first few pages. I decided to purchase "Twilight" and "New Moon" to appease my friend....and I was curious.

The books are brain candy. I read "Twilight" in a week and recently started "New Moon".

I used to read historical romances in high school when my romantic life was strife with abuse.... those books, somehow, gave me hope to hold out for something better.

I don't need to meet a vampire anytime soon... and this series offers me an escape from my daily life.

This series helps my brain rest and escape.... I need that right now.

    :)

    Brain candy?

I sort of feel sorry for the guy playing Edward in the movie....he's going to be every horny 15 year old girl's dream boy for a looong time!

I was thinking about your post last night. What exactly did you mean by "cross over fiction"?

supposed childrens fiction that adults read. also adult fiction that kids read. like lord of the rings or gullivers travels, which arent necessarily or intentionally aimed at kids. but they seem to read them and more importantly, enjoy them regardless. books that sway across the age divide, that are difficult to classify definitively as either/or. id class the harry potter series and philip pullmans his dark materials trilogy as cross over fiction as well.

As an adult (reading to my child) I loved the Susan Cooper series, "The Dark is Rising" and also Norton Juster's "The Phantom Tollbooth." They crossed over for me.
I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.

since having children ive developed a very deep appreciation of roald dahl. i was denied him as a child. :) but basically as a hopeless case ill read just about anything in written form. its an addiction im sure of it. :D

Thanks. I thought that may have been what you meant but thought I'd clarify anyway! :)

i'm a little over half way through the fourth book - Breaking Dawn. i started reading them because my niece is obsessed with the series. it's a very well written story, BUT my only problem is Bella's obsession with Edward. i know she's in love with him, but she'll die without him. and he'll die without her. i've never been a fan of that type of love story (the tragic love stories like Romeo and Juliet). you know how teenagers can get sucked in to that type of thing and they're so dramatic (in general) anyway. other than that - yes, it's a very good story. i didn't think anyone could do a proper vampire story except Anne Rice....i stand corrected. :)
