It is 'etc' NOT 'ect'

So many people on here get this wrong.

Etc stands for et cetera.

That is all.

I know the spelling et cetera

That's not nearly as prevalent as the people think that every word that ends with s needs an apostrophe.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

it's not a soapbox if it is simply a peeve. i don't think zig, or anyone posting in here acts like they don't make errors.....just sayin'.

i think i deserve a gold star for this beautifully horrific typo:

    espewcfially

used only moments ago, elsewhere....meant to be 'especially'....which i quickly corrected once i saw my verbal abortion. sometimes i truly amaze myself with my typing prowess. :D

Hey! I never make errors! ;)

Most people know if they suck at they're/their/there or two/too/to etc. The reason I made the thread is because I truly believe some people don't even know that the correct spelling is "etc". It was to inform them -- not give them shit.

I do believe though that the number of people who can't spell or punctuate is fucking disgusting.

i stand right beside you in this thought.
one thing i've always been obsessed with is proper spelling and punctuation.

just seems kinda easy to pick on those who are either too lazy or too dumb to care.

in the end...ultimately, i think we're on the same page.

*throws potatoes at ziggy on her soapbox*

    i hear ya!
my husband is an atrocious speller! horrible! and he knows it, does what he can....but it will never be a strength for him. luckily, he married quite a dictionary amongst other skills, so it's all good. :p also, some people simply don't give a shite...and others enjoy, i think, how irritating it may be to others. haha.

and obviously...if someone is making the SAME error, repeatedly...they obviously don't know. etc.....definitely..ridiculous....a lot....etc, etc. i had a girlfriend who used to say AND write 'supposively'.........yikes! i used to try and anunciate supposedly, to no avail. so eventaully, just became one of her many quirky charms. :D i hope my many, many errors and mistakes become 'charming'...they must to my husband! hahaha.

    Then/than.

i have to admit that i simply cannot get my head round the misuse of that one..

i.e "my one is bigger then yours"

that's just so wrong i cannot compute my rage on a simple family message board but to put it into visual terms i have just crushed diamonds using my gums... that's how annoyed that gets me.

i should be worrying about HIV in Africa, but the then/than bugs me more.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
