so i was laid for the 2nd time in 4 months today. fucking economy...

anyway, i was wondering if you guys think i should include the recent job or leave it off. i technically was an employee at my last job until mid august. i started this one only a month ago.

do you think i should just leave it off completely? or put it on there because if i dont it might look bad that i was unemployed for so long? and if i put it on there, do you think i should make it a point to indicate what happened (downsizing) to show that i am not just jumping around voluntarily?

please help!

    I would leave it off.

that extra month of being unemployed on your resume won't change an employers opinion of you. That being said seeing you only lasted somewhere for a month might raise an eyebrow with a hiring manager even if you put on there you were laid off due to economy etc.

I say this as someone who is a recruiter who has to talk hiring mangers into interviews with people all the time.

I hear you.The jobs just don't come in so regularly when the economy is bad.

If I was you I would get a higher class of clientele... they can still afford these types of luxuries. Think Heidi Fleiss......

Either that.... Or use that damn edit button!!!!!!!!!

This may be the funniest thread on here in a while!!!!!

    agreed.
    leave it off.
it adds nothing positive to your resume, and it may actually be viewed as a negative...so best to avoid.

good luck with your job search! :)

while it is smart on your part not to want to show any large gaps of time of unemployment on your resume, it is best to leave this one off

Good luck to you. I hate to see people lose their jobs.
Don't come closer or I'll have to go

  • As a business owner, I'd say it makes no sense putting it on. Just put in the jobs you did and leave gaps for the ones that have no relevance for the job you are going for or don't add anything to your CV. A recruiter wants to know what you can give them, not what you did for a couple of months. If the question comes up in the intereview about the gap, just be honest and say that you left off a temporary position because you didn't feel it had any relevance. I make up my mind if I want to interview someone because of the general content, not the small details, then in the interview you can show your honesty by explaining it without making it sound negative if needs be.
we're all going to the same place...

    either.

as long as you address it in the cover letter, it won't be an issue.

    good luck
