hello there. i'm hoping someone can help me. i still have ps2. the old one, not the slim one. and i am just now trying to play madden online but am not able to get it to work right. let me explain my problem and i would love to hear your thoughts....cuz i have no idea what im doing with this stuff.

i have comcast high speed internet and i do not have a router. so i disconnected my pc ethernet wire and put the ps2 ethernet wire in its place in the modem. i bought a used network adapter (perhaps that is the problem) from gamestop and attached it to the ps2. now when i did this i noticed that only one of the little things that stick out had a corresponding one on the ps2. the rest of that area of the ps2 was empty. but anyway, i attached it and tightened the screws. i also bought a used memory card so i would have enough space. hooked everything up. went through the prompts. and i keep getting the same message everytime. the screen turns red. and it says my connnection has timed out or something. this happens everytime.

i'm really certain that i followed all of the directions. i am thinking maybe its the network adapter because it is used. but i dont know. i hope there is someone on here who knows more about this stuff and can help me because i really want to whup my old college roomate's ass in some madden like its 1998 or something! can anyone give me some advice?

many thanks

Have you reset your modem since you switched the ethernet wire over to your PS2?

The PS2 has a network disk that is needed for setup.

    I'd get one of those.

"Connect the network adapter to the PlayStation2 system by lining up the unit's connectors to the expansion bay located in the rear of the PS2. Once your hardware is set up, the user must insert the network adapter startup disc in order to configure the ISP network data and connect to the Internet. Simply go through the ISP setup process located on the main menu of the startup disc. Your network configuration data will be saved onto your memory card. The ISP network configuration will work only on the specific PlayStation2 system you used for the initial ISP setup. Network configuration data is not transferable from system to system. "

    Took that from amazon.com's notes

Wasn't sarcasm, was fact. You didn't say he lived so far away.
Did he give you a step by step of what he did, or does he remember at all?

Don't have any good advice for you besides surfing through the following, if you haven't already: http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1095

Yeah, I don't have the slightest idea how to do it without the disc.
I'd just go back to GameStop and get a disc...will save you lots of time and effort.

I'm a video game junkie and I'm 28. I hope I will continue playing video games until I'm 80...(not that I will live that long) but seriously, a PS3 should be in your immediate future! ;)

I didn't really know you could play Madden online with a PS2!

    Yep, I'm 27 and I love videogames!
Nothing like a long day of work and coming home playing some games (off or online with friends) with an ice-cold beer.

Oh, I travel a lot and my PSP is never far from my side.
