Listening to Mansfield 03 all day today in celebration of my favorite show ever.
So good, brings me right back to that great night...
"Good morning. The advise we give to you, is the advise we give to ourselves. Lets pace ourselves, it's gonna be a long one. We appreciate you coming down early to participate in the experiment"
Classic stuff....

Here it is:
Tweeter Center, Mansfield, Massachusetts - July 11th 2003
The Boston Experiment. The 3rd of 3 Boston shows in 2003, the band had attempted to play their entire catalogue of over 100 shows over the 3 Boston shows. While playing approx. 56 over the first 2, meant they needed a shitload of songs in the 3rd... and they did it. Featuring a 12 song acoustic set BEFORE the opening band, Sleater-Kinney, this is the longest show in Pearl Jam's history, and easily one of the best. 2 Sets, and 3 Encores.

That aside, the acoustic set is the best 12 songs PJ has ever put together and played in one shot.
Ha ha, good call.
I was gonna say State College was the longest SPONTANEOUS show in Pearl Jam history! I.E., you weren't told to get there early for a pre-set, no one knew it was going to be so incredible. You always HOPE for that being the end of the leg of the tour, but no one expected it.
I'm sure Mansfield was kick ass too. That's one of the few bootlegs I have from 2003 that was a show I didn't go to, and it was cool.

I had gone to the 2 others and didn't realize how epic a show it was going to be. I didn't actually have, but had the opportunity to get them thru TM. She didn't care if I went.
Agreed, Boston 3 was like 2 seperate shows. State College was the longest show ever. For the record, I was at BOTH shows.

I can't believe how few people were actually there for the acoustic set.

Only the real fans had any idea they would actually do it. It wasn't written on the ticket or anything.
It was great...everybody was sitting. It was so laid back, and hearing them acoustic was an experience I'll never forget.

To find an approach and a way to live
Are we getting something out of this
all-encompassing trip?
There were few people there at the start however that was to do with how flipping EARLY they started. It was well publicized what they intended to do, it was all over the radio on the 10th and 11th, that they would hit the stage sometime after 4pm. Getting to the Tweeter mid afternoon is a pain in the ass. We walked in midway through the 3rd song-Sometimes. I recall it was not until Thin Air that there was an actual "crowd" and the upper sections and lawn were starting to fill up. For me, Indifference was ablsolutely mid blowing what a version to close the acoustic set.
