As someone who has been a type 1 diabetic for over 33 years and a PJ fan as well, my sympathies go out to Chloe and Andy's family and friends.
With this illness, how well or how poorly you take care of it does not always guarantee the results you might expect. In general, good control means better health as far as complications go, but not always.
This thread is to serve as a tribute to a young man named Andy (Mol.Cameron on this board) who died in his sleep on May 11, 2008. Andy suffered from Diabetes and died from complications. He would have turned 21 on May 17, 2008.
Andy was a really sweet young man who really loved Pearl Jam. He lived in Norwich, UK and attend University at Leicester. He had tickets to and planned to attend a number of the east coast shows...from DC on....
Rest In Peace and love to you and all your loved ones, Andy.
It's an awful shame you had to leave us all so soon. :(

Here is a message from Andy's girlfriend, Chloe:
andy's nickname was molly hence mol.cameron, thats what all his mates knew him as.
but molly (andy) always showed me messgaes from everyone. its so nice this band bring together a real collection of lovely genuine people as if they live their lives directly from the song lyrics themselves.
andy and myself saw pearl jam three times; aug 06 twice and June 07; it is Dublin august 2006 where we fell completely in love with the band and each other.
Late at night listening to pearl jam is where i will miss him most.
he had tattoos over his body of pearl jam lyrics and the 'alive' stick man.
i recentely got the last one andy had planned for himself ''given to fly'' on his wrist. i now have this on my wrist, its a small tribute to the most amazing person you know through your love of pearl jam.
at his funeral we played: neil young heart of gold, pearl jam given to fly and wishlist, and neil young once more with rockin in the free world (pearl jam covered too as you know)
it was beautiful. i will miss him, but keep on truckin' and thanks for the messages.

Wow. That's so beautiful. My spine tingled when I read that. That's probably my favorite song ever. And to do such a thing...it's so fuckin beautiful.

I hope you will find the strength to deal with this...!
I love Low Light a lot as well, and it will be played at my wedding in August. I'll think of Andy then and will wish him well.
Wishing his family, friends and Chloe a lot of strength to get through this and a beautiful life ahead of you.

Is it a good idea to start a thread on this for Andy, like we are doing for Hippiemom/Laura at the moment...?

Andy was a drummer as well....and liked that he shares his birthday with Dave Abbruzzese.
