and we're getting cable. :p

i know, i know...most people look absolutely shocked  when we inform them that no, we don't have cable TV, and NEVER have. i have never had it, period....my husband had it for a time when he was single. once we married, we both agreed it just didn't seem worth the expense, and we have been happy w/o it. we don't watch TV, just keep netflix VERY busy. :)

however, my hubby got dazzled :D...hahaha. we already have verizon for our home phone and fios internet service, so they offer this 'bundle' with 200+ cable channels and it's not too bad...bout $25 more a month. although i'm sure once fees/taxes hit it, be more like $45. so we finally are keeping up with the jones', a little ;)......it happens friday. haha. we shall see how the dreamn household may alter........

    Welcome to 1995.

    how about 1980? :p
i know it was around my HS years, was around and aware of the birth of cable...MTV...i did see it on occasion. ;)

and that's the usual response we'd get. amazing that 2 adults can live and be happy in america w/o cable TV. :) my husband wants it all b/c of our new 52" TV and upgraded surround system...all for the hi-def TV shows and such. i am curious to see how much we use/enjoy it. of course, being shiny and new...i'm sure hubby will go nuts at first, haha.

we were one of the FIRST areas to get it, ANYwhere. i guess one of the many perks of living on long island...;) haha. as it is now, i've read recently it is THE fastest internet access, at least for home use i guess.....and it's still only available in 16 states. so yes, i do feel special. :p

    btw - we LOVE it!
and supposedly now it will be upgraded to be even faster!
    i'll love that.

yep, it's a long process rolling it out. takes forever with all of the politics and approval needed... plus of course the installation.

i'm counting down until it comes to my neighborhood since my stupid cable goes out at least once/day. well, like i said...enjoy! :)

I don't have cable either, never have, and don't plan on getting it either.
I hardly watch TV shows but I do have Netflix
so I get that same reaction but I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything

    which practically means, cable

so it was smart for you to get it now

I do have to say FIOS is the shit. I spent a good 6 months trying to get your company to lay a FIOS line 300 feet from the top of the industrial park that I work in to our building.

Although I have been angry with Verizon the last few weeks but that's another matter for another time.

As far as cable for the first time I didn't have it in college for my freshman year. I guess that's why I drank so much. :)

hey D2D just be careful that after one year of your 'bundle', the prices may skyrocket. my bill went up about $40 after one year. no kidding.
I love to turn you on

we've had ipods, cell phones, etc...for years! we are a very 'gadgety' couple.....and hubby LOVES his electronics. :p
just no cable....saw no need. still don't see a 'need'....but hubby thinks it'll be worth it.

and steve, i hear ya on the price...and if that's the case, adios! however, we were told this is not a promotional price, so we shall see.

and get_right....yea, that too. i think the converter box w/o cable would be $200. so 'worth it' to to try at least a year. i do know there are some good programs to be seen, and of course movies....so we'll see! :D

cable tv??? next thing you'll be telling me a man can marry another man.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
