LOVE em!

when i got home from work yesterday and was opening my mail, i noticed a letter from my firm. opened it up to find a letter from the lead partner for the metro region, going on and on about what a successful year we had, how hard we all work...blah, blah, blah. all very nice. BEST part though......giving us an extra day off for independence day! with fourth of july falling on a friday this year, plus now getting the thursday off, AND also closing the office at 3 PM wednesday.....a fantastic 4 day weekend!

on TOP of that, in appreciation/thanks for all our hard work, EVERY employee is getting a check for $500 - and there are over 5K employees in my office - and they are making SURE we each get to pocket the FULL amount, so evidently are going to give each employee enough to cover the taxes in their check! fantastic! i thought really, really fantastic gesture...and to take it that 'extra step'.....brilliant!

anyhoo.....what a GREAT surprise! :D

share any of your great surprises, old or new....sooo fantastic!

That's awesome! By the way, what do you do for a living? I need a job where they actually show their appreciation...
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

btw - i don't think it's so much WHAT you do, but who you work for in regards to the whole 'showing appreciation.' i'll be here a year the end of july, first truly corporate job i have ever had - i come from art education - so totally outside my field. :p however, hell yes, i think i totally lucked out.....really great environment and truly show their appreciation in many, many ways here. it's all good.

My copy of A Bronx Tale on DVD dropped through the letter box today, 2 minutes before I left uni accomodation and came home for a month. I'd forgotten I even bought it and would probably have never received it if the post was 2 minutes slower. Stuff left around for a minute there doesn't last, never mind a month.

So that was nice. Made the train journey home more interesting. Great film.

About a week after I got back from the EV west coast tour my cousin (who I took to Berkeley 1) sends me a care package with Into The Wild on DVD as well as a copy of the Berkeley 1 show that he recorded. It's not as good as the other version floating around but I was just amazed that he would do that! Quite a surprise!
