You guys should check out the new movie 'Waitress' http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/waitress/
There is a guy in there that does spontanious poetry, even busted one out in his wedding vows...My fiancee made me go see this film but it was actually pretty good for a 'chick flick.'

Btw, it was the last movie written and directed by Adrienne Shelly...The link below details her murder...fucked up shit..

http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2006-11-02-adrienne-shelly_x.htm

i recently saw this flick too....and it is a sweet, endearing little story....sure, with a small dose of empowerment thrown in, but just all well done!

i had read about adrienne shelly, so tragic :(...and i remember her so well from the hal hartley flicks the unbelievable truth and trust. what a shame to say the least.

very enjoyable little film though, i do recommend it.

Trust has been playing often on IFC as of late, because of the release of her last movie, the Waitress. i enjoyed her in trust, so i'll probably watch Waitress sometime.

Great movie.....the woman's husband was so annoying in the way he honked his horn so many times....made him quite unlikable!

The restaurant staff reminded me of the show ALICE.....Cheryl Hines was Flo, the quirky girl was Vera and the cook was Mel!

i wanted to watch both trust and the unbelievable truth again as it's a long time since i saw them, and i do remember enjoying them...and for some reason shelly's death really 'got to me'...and sure, murders always do of course, but i just felt the loss....

anyhoo, my local rental places don't have the flicks anymore :(..and we recently dropped our netflix account...don't have cable...so eh well.........

and yes, her husband was an asshole. :p
i so enjoyed the dry, matter-of-fact storytelling of the main character......just so to the point, no bullshit, no apologies...i love that.

I thought about starting a new thread, but was too lazy to do so after I posted the above quote, and I figured you would anyway...the spontanious poetry guy was awesome!! Also, the script was pretty tight aside from the affair with the Doc, which had plenty of holes...I mean, why was he cheating on his wife? At first I thought perhaps his wife died but still wears the wedding band..It seemed as though he loved his wife...she's pretty, smart and what's the problem?? That part didn't make sense at all...why would he start an affair with a pregnant drama queen waitress...all because of the fucking pies?? Give me a break....

    her death was so tragic.

Those early movies were made in Lindenhurst which is near where I grew up, and I have close friends that are from there.

I would really like to see this movie, thanks for the info and the review.

Yes he was annoying and his name was Earl. I took my patient to see Waitress and we loved it. I told my girlfriend to see but she's yet to see it maybe this weekend.

it was an alright movie up until the ending. i could see that ending coming in the first 10 minutes and was so annoyed by how cliche it turned out to be. still, it had a few laughs in there, in between the irritating southern accents and ridiculous love affairs with food.

weird. i watched this last night with the gf and we both liked it, even though the ending was a little on the predictable side (like soulsinging said).

made me want to open a pie diner and move to a small town.

The ending was shite and very very disappointing cos up until then I thought it was great and very enjoyable and had aLOT of potential. The whole film was so UNcliche that to make it end that way let it down a LOT.

But it's definitely worth seeing, with or without the ending. I thought Keri Russell was great in it.
