    i will be 40.

    40!

i really am not all that *ack!* about it, look forward to another *biggie* birthday and all that, but yes.....still..........40. WOW.

just had to get that out there. :D

feel free to share experiences/feelings/whatever for your *big* birthdays. thus far, i have hit the milestones happily. however, i do most certainly - obviously - think about them a good deal before they actually occur.
I was in 4th grade when you were born.

Actually, while I'm not thrilled, I'm basically okay with it. I've always found how I handle any "big" b-day has to do with how happy/where I am in my life. I freaked at 35, but I was in a weird place in 2003. But I'm in a pretty good place now, so 40 doesn't seem like the end of the world.

    yay for you! :D
    hehee.

i sooo agree really. i was *lucky* in that almost all my BIG birthdays thus far i've always ben in a really good place and thus looked forward to em. dunno why, but i was PSYCHED for 35. made a lot of life changes.....got in great shape ( if only i kept it up :o - goal for 40)......got a tattoo. :p 36 on the other hand, probably one of the worst birthday os my life...it sucked, i was miserable! nothing to do with turning 36, and EVERYthing to do with my life circumstance. hopefully, and happily.....40 will be GREAT! i REALLY want to kick off the next decade on a truly positive note and also to feel/look my best. i'd really love to go away somewhere too, but that depends on hubby's work scehdule. either way, i plan on welcoming in my 40s with a BLAST! and sure, a lot of alcohol. ;)

and for all of you over the hump.....thanks for getting there first. :D

40 on August 26th! 1968 was a good year for me and my twin. I was 5.25 pounds, and my twin was 5.75 pounds when we were born. My mom said that when she walked out of the hospital with us she was carrying her 5 pound bags of sugar.

As D2D noted earlier, we will always be younger than the bandmembers of Pearl Jam. Whenever I think that I'm getting old I think "Yeah, but Eddie's older." :D

Happy early birthday to you too!

and I agree with your statement. For some reason turning 25 was really hard for me...but I loved turning 30. I really think it has to do with how content you are with your life at any given time. The more regrets you have...the harder it is.

I'm turning 25 in a month and a half, and I'm having my mid-twenties crisis. I left my job (that I hated) to travel, and now I'm back in nyc job hunting, not sure of what I want to do or if I even want to be in new york. I've started to think about grad school outside of the US.

yeah...i think the 20's can be tough. A lot of times huge life factors such as jobs, relationships, etc are unsettled...and everyone thinks they should know exactly what they're going to be doing for forever. Sometimes just focusing on enjoying your life in the moment (rather than worrying toooo much about goals and your future) helps you figure out the act right path.

i think EVERY decade has it's own particular *issues* and growing pains as it were. i am sure the 40s shall really bring home the whole, 'yes...i really AM an adult/aging'.....better make the most of it! :p

i had a lot of 'stuff' in my 20s......but soooo much GOOD stuff then too! my 30s i had a MUCH harder time, a LOT more 'stuff'...and really BIG stuff. :( i've also had some of the greatest times/experiences of my life, so yea...whatever...hahaha. i am hoping my 40s are a bit more 'settled'....and yet filled with a LOT of happiness/excitment/new, good experiences......

    *smooch for that*

i think i shall 'celebrate' my 39.5 birthday this evening with a bottle of wine. of course, that really doesn't differentiate it from the other nights this week, haha. none the less...i think that's the plan. :)
