I haven't had the deep fried as much as I'd like - it's so fucking good.

deep fried IS awfully good , However a giant pain in the ass also very messy and dangerous. Open flame , spilling oil. Best to do it outside.

Smoked is awesome as well. When I was a kid my dad made a smoker out of an old refrigerator. The turkey was so good as well as the stuffing and gravy. :)

Aw, I thought this thread was going to be about Pit members :(

I don't think I've ever had deep friend turkey, so I am going with oven roasted by default.
  • I've never had a deep fried turkey. My family has always just roasted one for hours and hours. I'd love to try one though.

True. I had a deep-fried Twinkie at a state fair once. It was amazing!

I do love me some deep fried turkey, but for Thanksgiving I gotta to with the traditional roasted for hours with stuffing and gravy and all that jazz.

same here! i'm curious to try it though just to see what all the fuss is about
  • Don't get me wrong. I love a perfectly oven roasted bird with all of the traditional sides too.
But I can tell you this from my own personal findings.
We have cooked two birds of equal weight the last few years. One oven prepared bird, and one deep fried bird. Both placed on the table at the same time in front of 10 or 12 salivating, famished, Thanksgiving Celebraters. And every year the fried bird is a pile of bones picked clean (to the point of near dryness) while the oven bird is basically untouched.

well I guess you've answered your own question then. Do two fried with different spices.

    I'm allergic to turkey.
I'm actually allergic to all poultry.
So I don't have an answer to your question.

I like the deep fried better. It seems like it is usually more moist and yummy, but i like that at our thanksgiving we have both.
