Some off you I've meet during these past few European Tours, others I've only meet on the pit. ALOT of you I've never ever meet or heard from but I do hope to hear from you now.

Well, the reason why I'm on here now, trying to get your attention is because I'm doing a longer trek through your beautiful continent, starting July this year in Mexico, and ending in Brasil and Sao Paulo next April.

I've been planing this trip for some time now, where to go, what to see, countries to visit, cities to explore, mountains to climbe and so on and so on. BUT, how far does a dozen of Lonely Planets really get me?? That's why I'm calling for your attention. I'd like to explore as much as possible and also see and soak up as much authentic spanish culture as humanly possible over a nine month period.

The list of my travels are quite extencive, starting in Mexico, then Guatemala, Honduras, Niqaragua, Panama, Equador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Brasil and inbetween, Cuba.

Off course I've included The Galapagos Islands, Machu Picchu, a trip to see the Nasca Lines, Lake Titicaca and the Easter Island (Robinson Cruiso Island???), dive trips in Honduras and Mexico, Mayan tempels and alot of other touristy things, but from an native point of view (this applys to all countries I'm visiting), what do I REALLY need to go see, experience? Festivals, cities, country sides, shops, resturants and so on and so on.....

Really hope someone can give me a few pointers :) and maybe even want to meet for a drink or two when I stop by!

In advance, thanks:)

Stian

(Oh, I'm taking spanish lessons so feel free to try out my inCREDIBLY bad spanish skills;) ) (and feel free to translate into english aswell;) ) hehe

That's some trip. Best of luck with it Stian.
I'm planning on travelling around South America myself in a year or so's time.
  • Buenos dias amigo :D

It'll sure be some trip!! Starting of by visiting Carlos in Mexico City. That should be fun. He's planing a little something, a trip to the Mayan Riviera I think he called it. Saw some pictures of it and hOLY shit did it look sweeeeeeeet!! Can't wait to get the show on the road!

Might have to alter my plans a weeee bit now that a PJ tour has been announced though. Maybe go see them at the Garden before heading over to Mexico..

When do you think you'll be in south america? I'm there until late march.. any chance our paths might cross??

I doubt I'll be doing my travelling until mid - late 2009 at the earliest. Depends on when I decide to sell my flat in England. It'll be within the next two years though. I wanna travel to Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru, either before or after travelling in Asia. I think I'll go to South America before Asia as I'm likely to stay in Asia for a few years. Still, I'm sure our paths will cross again at some point.

Edit: How's your Spanish coming along? I've heard it's necessary to speak it in that part of the world.
  • It's coming along fine. It's basically surival spanish at best, but better to know some than none.. Important you know how to order your cervesa isn't it;) That and it's also nice to travel on a semi full stomach..... And get the right directions....

Think it's wise of you to consider taking lessons too if you're traveling south A someday. It's good fun learning a new language aswell :D
