Greatest: Approx. 1901 - 1924
Silent: Approx. 1925 - 1945
Baby Boomer: Appox. 1946 - 1964
Generation X: Appox. 1965 - 1980
MTV Generation: Approx. 1975 - 1988
Millenial (Generation Why?): Approx. 1982 - 1994

I'm suprisingly relieved that I would be considered a member of Gen X/MTV Generation. You millenials scare the bejeezus out of me.

Why is the MTV Generation in there? I didn't think generations were supposed to overlap.
  • I'm definitely the MTV generation. Got that shiz when I was 5 years old, and was hooked. Too bad its nothing but reality shows now :(

Probably because people born within this time frame exert other characteristics that don't necessarily fit with Generation X

I don't get generations since they really have no beginning and end. I mean - people are born constantly, right? It's not like there's anything really separating people.

Also, I resent the stereotypes that come with them.
The only people we should try to get even with...

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

What about 1981? I was born in 82, but I feel more at home with Gen X's values.

I don't think anyone born after 1950-ish should be Baby Boomer

^^^^ There is also a lesser known generation called Generation Jones - 1956-1964. (Look it up on wikipedia) It consists of those who were really too young to remember all the stuff Baby Boomers talk about and remember. I was born in 61, and never felt part of the baby boomers feel that I share some values with Generation X. I think there are some grey areas between the groups.

  • Apparently I fall under MTV/Millenial. Kinda makes sense I suppose. '85 Rules!

  • I think recognizing the differences between generations serves a great purpose. I was born in '76 and consider myself Gen X through and through. I think anyone born after '80 is Gen Y (why?--that's excellent). I think there is a huge difference in general between X and why. Not completely across the board, there are definietly some cool Y's, but I think the majority of them are soft, stupid, whiney bitches, with terrible taste is music and just about everything else, obviously if you are part of Y and posting on here you are and exception. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the generations before X, but I would like to here why's take on where they fit it and if I am way off base in my stereotype?
