"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
This site has the most interesting ones I could find. Otherwise, it's just pictures of Billy Piper and the big TV screen that was put up in the centre of town.
*Edit I actually had some nice old pics there of the railway but the link didn't work. There's some pictures of Wiltshire though - the county I live in.
I shouldn't be so hard on the area since my parents still live there, but the truth is there's nothing there. One main road that runs from the Delaware river to the end of town. Along this road there are various drug stores, my high school, a Goodwill (oh happy day), neighborhoods, and a Walmart!
surprisingly they are building new large homes in the area..... who'd move there I have no idea. It's the last exit on I95 before Delaware, and you can shop tax free (so I guess that's the incentive??) also it's 15 mins from Philly.
Still not worth it for me to move back.
All of you in beautiful places....ENJOY:D
**edit** it's sad cause most of the apartments in the area are section 8 (projects) now.... nothing against the people but it really took a turn after the township did that. It never was the best of places, small town... lower middle class to just below the poverty line.... which then the next town over is the town Chester, which you just don't drive through. My hometown (chichester/ boothwyn) had taken an upswing while I was in school...we had an awesome principle who changed the school around from trash can fires and lock downs to an actual school you're not afraid to go to. He unfortunately retired and the school has taken a drastic turn for the worse. Oddly the building itself was awesome. It won architectural awards in the 60's for the way it was spread through the woods (which kinda made it easy to cut school @ lunch..lol) we had suspended glass hallways connecting the wings of the school and the cafeteria was on the bottom floor near a creek and the woods on one side with glass windows stretching the entire wall..and a courtyard on the other side, again with glass windows. I spent a lot of time down there cause the art rooms were also down there, and once you got in good with the art teachers they would get you excused from other classes to "work on art projects":p
Sadly I heard that the glass hallways have been boarded up because of the kids now pushing others thru the glass( it's a 2 story drop to the ground:eek: ).
so....yep where I grew up was a crap hole then... but now it's a SHIT hole!

Can you get into those old castles and snoop around. Or do people still live in the ruins? I want to live in the ruins of an old castle! Not castle Fukula, mind you, but a castle nonetheless.
no you can go into them, caerlaverock and drumlanrig castles require a small fee though... but there are still plenty of ruined ones like Lochmaben, Morton, Sanquhar that you can just climb around on... like this one at Lochmaben
Dumfries ... my town was founded in 1186... or at least declared a royal burgh then.. it was probably around before that
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
