Well I didn't have to pay for it. Still, got more enjoyment out of trading it in.

It was overhyped, but it wasn't bad.
Get Call of Duty 4 if you want a shooter.

Got it. Its alot of fun, even some mates who only usually play guitar hero or pro evolution enjoy it. I always played nintendo games and got a big kick out of them. The xbox is weird, people look for different things in a game, I mean Bioshock is alright but not phenomenal. Skate is excellent though.

I loved Bioshock, a bit short though. I also loved Assassin's Creed.
Personal preference makes a huge difference :P
Almost done Oblivion, Mass Effect waiting, among others.

Assassin's Creed was fantastic, don't know why people complained about the ending, it was subtle but worked well, looking foward to the next one.
By the way, about Bioshock, what was with the ending, it was over in about 30 seconds

Wasn't too much done in the way of cutscenes throughout the whole game, not the best ending but it was on par for the rest of it.
The game points to sequel but the ending didn't.

    Like RPGs?

I enjoy the odd one that I'd play, usually I don't have the time but Oblivion caught my eye, the only thing putting me off is that it seems you'd need to give it some serious attention, I heard someone mention 100+ hours but it is temtpting.

If you wanted to do everything in the game it'd probably take you over 100 hours, but I had it for the PC long before the 360 and I'm mowing through it on the box. The main questline gets pretty tedious though.
I think Mass Effect is going to be even longer, and then Lost Odyssey, apparently spanning 4 DVDs and aiming at Final Fantasy fans (made by the creator of FF) is coming next week.

I suppose its the fantasy thing more than anything else that puts me off, like I said Oblivion is looking good and it's going for a decent price so I might pick that up but the Knights of The Old Republic game coming sometime in the future would be a game Id look into. I don't play games as often as I used to. That said I loooooove Guitar Hero :D

Mass Effect is essentially KOTR on steroids if you're looking for one to tie you over until Knights, if Knights is even coming...
Same company made it, same game type essentially.

If you look for Oblivion keep an eye out for the game of the year edition which has the Shivering Isles expansion included.

Yeah Halo is REALLY overrated. Single player is mediocre at best but the multiplayer is pretty good tho. Call of Duty 4 is much better in both departments.

  • Shit? I strongly disagree. Maybe not the best ever but far from shit. I think that's a bit harsh.

COD4 was excellent though. Bioshock i thought was good, don't know about the hype though.

Anyone recommend a good shooter for PS3? Any opinions on Unreal Tournament? Been thinking about picking that up.

UT3 on PS3 has user mods (or will have soon) and mouse and keyboard support.
Not a big fan of UT, but if you liked any of the others it's a safe purchase.
Uncharted (also on the shelf/queue for me) is a great game, Warhawk is pretty fun but multiplayer only.
Lots of people will recommend Resistance but I hated that one (good story though).
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is out in March for both systems.
  • never got into the Halo games.....although I must admit I do like the sports games much better than the first person shooter games

my old roommate was obsessed with the first one when it came out....that was the sole reason he bought an xbox....no other games, just Halo

Halo 3 is in line with the rest of the Halos, if you didn't like the original you wouldn't like the third.
It was overhyped, but it was Halo. Halo is Halo.
