Why do so many of you never play your vinyl?
The record was made with one intent, to be heard, keeping it in the selophane or plastic is an insult to the people who made it, by doing so your defying it's very existence and purpose in the world.

It's the equivalant of buying a car and never driving it.
It's the equivalant of buying clothes and never wearing them.
It's the equivalant of buying food and never eating it.

How stupid do all them things sound?
Thats how stupid buying a record and not playing it is.

How stupid does it sound "yeah so I've like gots me an original pressing of Ride the Lightning unopened like sealed never played how cool is that dude?"

Makes you sound totally retarded thats what.

Sorry folks just needed to have a rant.:)

So because you cant understand it makes it stupid? ;)

I see your point 100%, but its like wine collectors also, Penfolds Grange from the 50's etc.

No-one would DARE open it to drink it. Why? Because of its value. The thought is I can drink other wine that may not be as good as the Grange, but not nearly as valuable.

I guess same goes with the vinyl. They can listen to it on CD while keeping the value of the vinyl.

Or you are like me and dont have a record player :D:D
Stars walk the red carpet because they're famous - I walk the toilet paper because im the shit.

Well artwork I suppose would be hung and admired, which is it's purpose, people who can afford vintage cars and shiz, if all they do is lock them up in a garage and look at them then yeah, equally retarded, if not more given they'll be spending a lot more hard eaned boolah on them, "I've always wanted one of them cars, not to drive mind just to look at" lol.

I aint going anywhere near the whole Star Wars figures, I used to play with them as a kid which was why I was bought them, I dont have any anymore, not something I'd want as I'm a bit old for them.

And your right people can do with there money as they please, but I just dont see the point of buying something and not using it.

so, buy a record player, play your vinyl and you'll understand the value is there. The value is when you listen to this. If you have a chance tolisten to benaroy vinyl, you'll udnerstand what we're talkin about.

Again if I bought alcohol I would buy it with the intention of drinking it, the people who made it, made it with the intention of it being drunk and appreciated, not left on a shelf growing old.
It breaks my heart to think there is people in the world who would spend silly amounts of money on something they wont use and at the same time, there is people suffering, homeless, destitute and dying of incurable diseases.

What if you have an album in multiple formats and you play your CD and standard vinyl all the time and keep your special edition, double gatefold edition sealed because it's worth the GDP of Burkina Faso? ;)

:D I'm just being pedantic. I actually agree, unless it's literally worth a shitload and I only own it for the value and have no desire to hear the music.

I have a couple of rare records, including a copy of Woody Guthrie's Dust Bowl Ballads that may or may not be worth a lot which is too old to keep getting handled by greasy fingers which I still can't help getting out and listening to. There's something amazing about listening to 65 year old recordings on vinyl.
