:D I know it's different when it's your own or related... but he's sooooo goddamn little  he was 6lb 4. My sister was only actually in labour for about an hour and a half and would have left the hospital Friday night if they'd let her :D

She left the hospital about 2pm Saturday after waiting hours to get an injection so she could leave but she was running around making tea and stuff when she got back like she hadn't just given birth the night before.

My father and I went to buy flowers and stuff Saturdya morning thinking we'd go to the hospital when visiting hours are but then we heard it wasn't until 2pm  so we bought some vases and balloons and banners and stuff and had the house all lovely for when she got back... it kept us occupied too.

:D bomb disposal mode... exactly! Well the last baby I really had much to do with was my niece and she's 12. She's gone all this time being an only child and now she's got a little brother :D it must be weird.

    congrats!! :D
  • Congrats, Helen :D

    Does he have a name??

It is so different when the babe is related to you. I am not usually all about kids but I think my nephew is just the most brilliant and adorable child in the world .. I mean he is but of course I would think that :p

Congratulations! Have you held him? That's pretty amazing to hold a newborn. I don't think I've ever held a newborn. 6 weeks baby is the youngest baby I've held.

  • Thanks all :) I've no pics yet cos she wasn't due til this weekend and, even though I KNEW she'd go last weekend I didn't pack my camera :o but I'm just waiting for others to send me theirs... if not, I'll take lots this weekend.

Ms. H. yeh, I held him on Saturday as soon as he came home :) . I didn't overdo it though cos I'm not used to babies  and am kinda afraid to drop him or break him or something :D but I made up for it yesterday, lol... there were so many visitors anyway, I didn't wanna pick him up when he was sleeping but then when he was awake there was always someone who hadn't held him yet.

You'll get over the initial "I don't want to break it" issue very quickly. You realize that you really can't break them, and any instincts you have about protecting them are probably spot on. When they are real young just make sure to support the neck and really that's all there is to it.

Just wait until he makes real eye contact with you for the first time. Heartbreaking. You'll melt.

He already HAS done... and I did. As soon as I held him for the first time he looked right at me and looked for ages like 'who the fuck are you?' and he was almost freaking me out :D we were joking that she shoulda called him Marlon Brando cos he makes the coolest faces. He's VERY alert for a newborn... the only thing we were worried about was that, even though he was born Friday night, he didn't cry til late Saturday night  we were starting to wonder if he COULD, lol, but he waited til we were all dropping off to sleep and screamed his little lungs out, lol.
