:D well those who know me will have no problem believing this... but I walked right past Noel Gallagher in the lobby of our hotel in Chicago  and only when we got out, the girls I was with were all going on about it and I was thinking 'I've fucking done it again' :D . Is your brother an Oasis fan? :D

    He's mad fer' it.

    I kind of am too.

You do walk past a fair few famous people don't ye, Hells. Head in the clouds much?!

And Janes Addiction were never that big at all here (afaik). I can only remember that one Janes Addiction song (Just Because), and I had to sit through that Satellite Party in Nijmegen - not that impressed.

Agrees, Three Days is an epic masterpiece in the midst of an amazing album which most certainly does not suck, then again Hitch-Hiker your the guy who tried to tell me Oasis doesn't suck the other day, matter of personal opinion, each to their own and all that.:)

But one thing I'm pretty sure of, Oasis couldn't write a song with the structure and signature changes of Three Days, their 3 chord rule just wouldnt be able to comprehend it.
I'll have you know that She's Electric has 6 chords :p
Nah, I never really took to Jane's Addiction though. I think it's the voice. Also, I haven't heard loads (just Ritual and Nothings Shocking) but a lot of it just sounds samey to me.
As you say though, personal opinion yadayadayada :)

In additon to his musical contributions, Perry Farell was the creator of Lollapalooza back in the early 90s. I am pretty sure he "owns" the name and trademarks etc etc. So you met the dude who runs the fest!

People in this thread should really pay more respect to Jane's Addiction. They made bizarre music popular in the early nineties, a time when the radio was dominated by much more derivative bands.

seemed like every Pearl Jam show I went to in Chicago there was some Irish chick there. No matter where I went to see them, there she was. Weird

Helen how did you not know who Perry Farrell is?

Are you coming in to see them stateside again?

and for the record I love Perry/Janes/P4P/Satellite Party

Ok, having been stalked by him at lolla last year... seemed everywhere I went he'd start setting up stage in front of me. I saw him 4 times and got to shake his hand twice :D even though I'd NO fucking clue who he was.

Well it gets weirder... I saw The Doors in Whisky a go go's in 2000... I've only NOW discovered that it was actually Perry Farrell who was singing that night  so I've seen this guy 5 times and couldn't even name one of his songs :D

Anyone else have any weird coincidences like that?

I saw Janes Addiction in 1988 at Brixton Academy as they were supporting Fields Of The Nephilim. I was front row and didn't know who they were. They were fucking amazing. I turned around and asked someone behind me who the band was and they told me.
I saw them about 5 times after that. And I sat outside the Subterranea next to Dave Navarro and chatted to him about drugs. That same night he dragged one of the girls I was with up on stage and full-on kissed her. Oh and Perry walked past me outside the venue that same day and I didn't recognise him. He smiled at me as he walked past and it was only when I saw the rest of the fans standing about 20 yards away and all looking in my direction thatI realised that it was Perry. I remember it was one of those knowing type of smiles that make you feel good about yourself. The only other time I've experienced that was from Lawrence Ferlinghetti when I saw him in CitY Lights bookstore. And I wasn't aware it was him at the time. I had a big ol' pile of books on the counter that I was buying. One of them happened to be a Ferlinghetti book and it had his pic on the back. So It was on'ly an hour or so later that I realised it was him.

I agree with your first 2 statements, but not with your third...as I have met him and *was* starstruck ;)

Anyone who thinks Jane's is terrible needs to listen to "Three Days" and "Then She Did" in order and tell me you can ever listen to music the same way.
