I re-read some books, mainly comedies (Hitchhikers Guide series, Chuck Palahniuk books, Discworld series etc.) or classics that I haven't read for a while. But generally I don't re-read a book until maybe 2 or 3 years later when I can't really remember much.

Yep! I cannot get rid of books that I love, especially in the fantasy genre. If a new book in a series comes out I have to re-read all the previous books before I'll read the latest one. A little annoying with the Wheel of Time series as I think it's at around twelve or thirteen books now and apparently no resolution in sight. I love re-reading the George R. R. Martin series Songs of Fire and Ice. I can hardly wait for the new one (in the Fall please please please). Dragonlance, Anne Rice, etc.

    Cheers!

I love a good fantasy book! If I can't find a good one, I will re-read what I already have. Love Anne Rice, Melanie Rawn, etc. Currently reading Raymond E. Feist - he's got several mini-series that all revolve around a D&D world he & others created long ago.
hahah i was going to post this with the wheel of time and the martin series im re-reading right now,im onthe second book, a clash of kings, i hvae yet to read the newest one(a feast of crows) so im hoping that the new one comes out in the summer so i can read both and be caught up oh and wheel of time is at 11 books with the last one coming out sometime soon here theyre just trying to figure out all the legal shit with is wife and the publisher since Robert Jordan died.

I can't wait until the last wheel of time book comes out! I didn't know that Robert Jordan died. I knew he was fighting for a long time and was working on the last book slowly...so sad to hear that he lost his fight. I will have to re-read the whole series before the last book comes out, it's been a long time.

Any other good fantasy authors out there - please share names with me :) I run out of books too often...and often find myself re-reading books I already have.

  • every year I read "east of eden" on my birthday...and I always have some Steinbeck book that i am reading as I read other books too -since I am no longer in school, my reading is strictly for pleasure so I read mostly novels, best sellers...nothing pulp.

"The time traveller's wife" I read twice in a row...it was THAT good...I like to revisit novels tho...it's like watching a fav. movie again.

The only book I re-read completely was Puckoon, by Spike Milligan :o:) But I am going to read Into The Wild, again, very soon.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

It was the last book in a really long time that I couldn't put down...I read it in ONE day and was so in love with the protagonist that I wanted to lie in the novel!! had to read it again, just to savor it...

The tattooed girl (Joyce Carol Oates) almost gave me this feeling...but I just really wanted to UNDERSTAND the girl...ahhh...that is a great read too...but I was able to go to sleep at 3 with the book not quite done...hahahaa

How the hell did you read that in one day???? It was pretty long, albeit an easy read. Yes, I was in love with him too. :o

When I am sick - my bf (Librarian...seriously) brings me books...so I had ALL day...and then, I also read all the way until the next morning...so, it was also the first time I had that quiet sunrise (non drunk) epiphany of morning...in a while at least.

I was so concerned for Henry...I broke down and cried...like a sissy mary lala...but their story was just so freaking perfect!

sigh...now i want to stay home tomorrow and read it...with a mixing bowl of rice crispies...oooh and snugglie socks.

Wow, thank you! I am almost finished with this series and was wondering what to read next! Now I have up to 30 more books to read :) should last me a while :)

Just thought of another great author I really enjoyed - Jennifer Fallon. What a great imagination!

Read "Watership Down" a couple of times....."Swan Song" by Robert McCammon...read that one a couple of times...."The Return of Tarzan"...yeah, that one too. There's probably a few others that I can't remember at the moment.

My husband thinks it's a waste of time to read a book twice. I think you get a different experience reading something again - like the books I read before I had children - it's different when you have a parent's perspective. Or you're just older (hah).

Also books they made you read in high school, like Dickens who I didn't like back then, now I love Great Expectations. Or Edith Wharton - hated her years ago, now House of Mirth is one of my favorite books.

A Night to Remember, anything about the Titanic I'll read over and over.

that pretty much sums it all up doesnt, youd be suprised how many look at me funny when i say this.

"but isnt the enjoyment in watching movies and reading books the anticipation and not knowing whats going to happen next?" is usually the response i get.

Yeah he died in September of last year, he posted on his site when he was first sick that all the notes were there and the book could be finished without him but it still sucks hes not going to put closure to it himself

Also no one has mentioned this but the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King is quite a good fantasy series albeit in a different way. Although i havent read the last 3 books yet so NO SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

A few I've re-read (because they were sooooooo good):

I Know This Much Is True - Wally Lamb
    Executioner's Song - Norman Mailer
    Multiple Richard Russo books
Into the Wild (again, after seeing the movie)

The first book is the best book ever written, IMHO :p

  • Just about to finish reading Orwell's Animal Farm for probably about the 10th time since I was a kid.... great book.

I always used to suffer from insomnia as a kid and as a result i'd read my Roald Dahl collection to pass the time. I read Fantastic Mr. Fox so many times the cover fell off :o

    I love re-reading books :D
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

I always preferred Orwell's essays, such as 'Politics and the English language', and 'Death of an elephant', e.t.c.

I do still need to read 'Homage to Catalonia' though. That one's on my list of things to do.

I have to say i've never heard of them let alone read them :o although I am intrigued... "Death of an elephant"?

Being a lover of Animal Farm, would I enjoy?
