Set Lists and Media Coverage

I've been browsing Pearl Jam on google news to see what setlists they went with to start their tour. I just want to thank Pearl Jam for always coming up with new setlists each tour and for reintroducing songs they haven't done in years. I thought that Who Your Are from Wednesday was beautiful. I think it sounds better than it did when they played it 10 years ago. It sounds like they worked hard at staying faithful to it while making it sound fresh live. Glorified G and Sad are two others I'd love to see live. I hope they play Who You Are next time I get a chance to see them, maybe WMA and Brain of J as well?

I know no fans on the pit and definitely not the band could care about what the mainstream media or non-fan blogger has to say, but I can't stand reading reviews of their shows where the critic pans their choice of setlist. A couple of the recent reviews I read were whining about PJ not playing their biggest hits throughout the show. Fuck that! Someone even mentioned Jeremy. I can't think of a worse idea. I love the way they pick their setlists and anyone who whines about them not just playing the greatest hits isn't a true fan in my opinion.

From the bat the pit-members want to hear. Unlike U2 or other huge bands, they don't just play the most recent or biggest hits. Pearl Jam should be commended for playing deep sets and mining their catalogue. I hope that their philosophy never changes.
