yes, I know the vast majority of people here don't give a damn about the nba but tonight's celtics-spurs game was one of the best regular season games I've seen this year. The Celtics wound up winning 93-91 after being down by 22 in the first half but the Spurs almost won it after Robert Horry stole the ball and fired up a deseperation heave that almost went in. This was after the Celtics came back from seven points down and got a huge three-pointer from Sam Cassell.

I missed the game but I see that the C's only scored 11 points in the first quarter. I'm liking their chances more than ever now!

i saw the highlights. big shot bob couldnt get it done with a hand in his face. i really dont get why people that dont like the nba. i understand the tourny is about to start, but if you like basketball, the western conference is sooooo good and the top teams in the east and the sixers now.
  • that's their loss and their ignorance when they hate on the nba. the action in the last few seasons even with the knicks being the league's laughingstock has been tremendous.

speaking of the sixers, it's funny to see them click now that billy king was fired and is an analyst on nba-tv.

The playoffs this year are shaping up to be the best in a very long time.

Nice win for the Celts, should be no more doubters about if they can compete with the west powers, especially considering Ray Allen missed the game. Time for the Rockettes streak to end tonight.

Cassell came up really big for us from the bench and Rondo was still able to play great as a starter.

BTW, I think a lot more credit should be given to Rock Adelman for the Rockets' success. Adelman has always been good coaching "roleplayer" than superstars. I'm fairly young to remember the late-80's and early 90's NBA but I think he led the Blazers to a couple of Finals series, even though they lost. I don't remember any big names other than Clyde Drexler. Then he had another success with the Kings before his Rockets gig. He only had Bibby, Peja and an old Webber to work with; they were good starters but I wouldn't call them superstarts or even stars. I can see him with a couple or more National titles if he was coaching in the NCAA.

Those Blazer teams were loaded, besides Drexler they had Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Kevin Duckworth, Buck Williams, Clifford Robinson, the 92 version had danny Ainge coming off the bench.

  • as someone growing up in the knicks-bulls rivalry in the 1990s, it was tough to like jordan but i'll never forget his three-point barrage in the 1992 finals.

I only remember Porter and C-Rob from that list. But looking back at it, with exception to Drexler + Porter, would any of those be considered "stars" like Lakers had with Magic, Kareem, Worthy or Pistons' Thomas, Dumars, Lambert, Rodman or Celtics' Bird, McHale, DJ, Parrish or Bulls' MJ + Pippen?

At the time, Kersey was an all star caliber player, Buck Williams was Dennis Rodman as far as rebounding before Dennis Rodman, and Duckworth was a very good, and very large center. The Blazers were loaded with talent...more talented top to bottom in 92 than the Bulls, but of course Jordan was the difference.
