We are in the initial planning stages of going to Manchester to see the Specials reunion show, as well as a Man City match, so a few questions:

Is the City Centre the best place to stay?

Is either the Renaissance or Marriott Victoria and Albert a nice/well-located place to stay?

Is the local transport as good as London's?

Thanks!

  • Not sure where to stay, but there's a sweet little early AM breakfast nook near the Printworks (bit to the northwest), it's all red, and has a nice view of a seedy tattoo parlor just across the street.

    Deliciously greasy heart stopping breakfast.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Man U are away that weekend, and City is more appealing than Wigan!

    1. Yes it is the best place to stay, obviously its more expensive but it makes things easier

    2) they're arnt too far away, its easier to get a taxi to the apollo (i think thats where they're playing) , i think the hilton is not too far away, but might be more expensive,

since i live here, ive not really been in any of the hotels, so you might want to check out review sites like tripadvisor, etc

    3) the transport is decent, but not as good as londons yet, there are plenty of buses and trams, but it depends on where you want to go etc

since the apollo and city's ground are near picadilly station, you might want a hotel near there as it will be in walking distance from the city centre and the ground
We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.

I am hoping for the trifecta of PJ -The Specials-Blur...and throw the Foos and Oasis in the mix too!

thanks for the info...I am a bit of an anxious traveler, so the closer to the station, the fewer worries!
