My Funny Moment with Gene Simmons

We were at the Harley Davidson Love Ride Concert yesterday (Foos, ZZ Top and the Tubes). Gene Simmons was there with his son (they were there for ZZ Top.)

Gene noticed the Johnny Cash T-shirt I was wearing, and he commented on it to his son. He then looked at me and offered me a piece of gum. It turned out to be the pack of gum that shocks you when you pull-out a stick, so I got a bit of a shock.

After we laughed, I called him a schmendrick (yiddish word for trouble-maker) since I knew that his mom speaks Yiddish, as does my father. We then spent the next few minutes debating on the actual meaning of the word. He claimed that it meant "putz", but I assured him I wasn't calling him that.

I am usually the one to be a wiseguy to others, so it was nice that he was the one who started it this time.

Ah Joe, you're a real mensch.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

And so the lion fell in love with the lamb...,"
    "What a stupid lamb."
