I just wanted to give a shout-out to Priceline. I hope all you Jammers can take advantage of the amazing deals found on Priceline for the upcoming tour. I've gotten hotels and car rentals at half-price from Priceline and I've never been disappointed. I'm staying in San Francisco on my honeymoon at a $319 hotel for $126! What a deal.

I just can't get over how awesome that website is...

Anyone else get killer deals from Priceline?

I don't know about priceline, but last weekend I learned something about hotels.com. I recieved a copy of my bill that was $30 CHEAPER than what I was charged on my cc over the internet. When I asked about it at the front desk they said that was the price I would've paid if I had called them directly. The front desk guy said I wasn't supposed to see that version of the bill and he could be in trouble for telling me, but that's how online booking agencies make their money. He said it's always cheapest to call the hotels directly. Not sure if that's always the case or if priceline works the same way, but it was definitely an eye-opening experience for me...
I smile, but who am I kidding...

I rented a car for 24 days for a total of $410 (last month.) That was $9/day plus applicable taxes. I had a red Nissan Versa and the rental was handled by Alamo.

I am staying at a hotel in DC... a 4 star Hyatt... for $65 a night...

And in 2003 I stayed in NYC... at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel for $100/night. :)

    There's more...but I'd say that says a lot.

    Name your own price!!!!!!!

well, i had a good experience with priceline too. i got a $185 a night room for $75 a night at a Marriot. that's a good deal even if priceline got a portion. ;) i'll have to call the hotel next time to see if that works better, then i'll compare.

Priceline is good, but the mystery is still a bit scary for me. Used it once in NYC and was pleased.

  • Priceline has worked out fantastically for me for the Canadian tour, and the 2006 US tour. I'll always go there first.

Has anyone used this for flights? My coworker has used it for hotels and has been happy, but we are both curious about whether it is great for flights or not.

I have not tried it for flights, but if my travel is flexible I may do so...especially with airline prices being jacked up.

About the earlier poster saying that calling the hotels is the cheapest way to go, I'd be very surprised if they beat Priceline's rates. Perhaps before I bid next time, I'll call the hotel directly and see if they can offer my bid. I could see the hotel beating Hotel.com rates, but Priceline rates are dirt cheap. What a great website!
