Best place for cheap flights

edited June 2008 in All Encompassing Trip
Going to Boston in August from So Cal and wondering if anyone has any little secrets about where to find some cheap flights. Any help, much appreciated.

They all seem to vary, but I would consider checking out Farecast (http://www.farecast.com). You can't purchase tix from that site, but they refer you to a bunch of sites that have good fares. They're more known for using prediction models on when (or not) to purchase your tickets. On their homepage, look on the top right ("Know When to Buy" section) to see their prediction legend. I relied on them to go from Sacramento, CA to Philadelphia for this week's Camden shows. All the flights I kept searching for on the usual sites were for $400 - 600. I put my faith in Farecast's prediction model by not buying a ticket (their recommendation was "DON'T BUY" during the days I spent searching for tix) and sure enough I got an alert that fares dipped down to $360 (about a month before my scheduled departure). I was so glad I held out because fares never got cheaper. It's a pain in the ass looking for airfares and with fuel being so expensive, expect to pay a little more than what you expect. Good luck!!!
    Rock on!

  • its crazy....guess they're pretty much the same as expedia, and priceline. It's a small fortune to fly out there right now. But I'll give farecast shot too. and thanks for the suggestions!

  • $387 with a stop in Dallas. Not too bad seein' how it was close to $600 non-stop. Might have been able to wait and get a little cheaper I don't know, but I'm good with this.

whats so damn funny? :) but actually I'm going out there in two weeks to help with a training for like 4 days, so I'll get to see a little of it then for the first time. And actually might be flying out there before the Boston trip for a long weekend to find a place to live. Come out...we'll party ;)

Is that a city? I'll be working in Downtown Dallas. From what I've gathered over the last couple weeks is that North Dallas and the cities in the north of Dallas area are nice places to live with a lot of stuff. But hey, any info I can gather will be sooo helpful. remember I'm moving there having never been there and knowing noone ;)
