Laptop question: Can it get more RAM

i have a Compaq Laptop/Notebook call it what you will
It has 1 gig of RAM currently looking to increase it to 2 Gig

Can this be done on a Laptop? or only Desktops

    I have yet to see a laptop with more than 2 memory slots in it, so make sure it can address 1 gig chips.

    I bought my laptop about two weeks ago and the fella at the shop upgraded my memory there and then from 1GB to 2GB. Sure it can be done. There's a slot at the back - after you've removed the back panel - where standard memory cards slot in.

    Just make sure that you match the memory in either slot... As in have either 2 512mb, or 2 1gig... not one of each :)

    absolutely yes it can be done. the RAM will cost you about 60-90 bucks. but the assholes will charge you the same or more to install it. (which takes all of 4 mins)

    Yep...that'll tell you how much RAM your gear can handle.
