Hurrican Ike hits our house in So. Illinois!

Wow! What is left of Hurricane Ike rolled through the Ohio River Valley this morning! It was awful! Half of my parents' roof blew off. We had two huge limbs fall on our garage, and the wind blew out one of the windows on our front porch. Out at "the farm" a big limb fell through half of the barn. We were without power for several hours.

I was at the farm letting my dogs run when the worst of it came through. I took off to drive home and had to dodge limbs blowing off trees and across the road. I heard that a couple of people in Nashville got killed. I'm surprised more people weren't hurt. As I was driving back to town in the middle of it people were out in their yards and front porches watching the 70+ mph winds come through and watching the trees fall.

    After it hit the Gulf region I thought Ike was done but I'm sad to hear what has happened to you and the rest of your family.

    Thanks for your thoughts. But actually we were lucky in that the damage was not worse than it was, and nobody in our immediate region was hurt that I know of. Although we might not know for sure until we watch the local news at 5:00 p.m. It scared my poor dogs to death. One of them was huddled down in the floor board on the way home. Then after she got home and the storm died down she didn't want to go outside to do her business. Poor thing.

    I'm moving to Palm Beach County Florida in 2 years and the scenerio of a hurricane and it's aftermath run through my mind constantly. Good luck to you and yours.
