Dissertation Over!!!!

Sorry Philly fans, I haven't been hiding b/c you are all doing so well...even if I would have normally, but I've been finishing my dissertation. Now it's all written and I defend on November 14. I keep looking at the box full of 300 page documents in shock that I could have written that much about something. Anyway...fanch75 and solat this natty's for you! Have a good night everybody.

    Thank you!!! It is titled Baseball, National Identity, and (Cultural) Citizenship in George W. Bush's America. I basically studied the Little League World Series and Red Sox Nation and tried to learn what the dominant American ideologies, values and ways of being are 'normal' in both things...particularly how they reinforce the things the George Bush administration tried to push on us.

    I'll see you in the moving train ;). That's exactly what it was on...some crazy stuff, especially since Dubz used baseball to get into politics in the first fucking place. I'm planning on ending my defense with a slide of his mug on the screen, and reading Bob Dylan's "Master's of War" from ...You might say I'm young, you might say I'm unlearned....alright one more natty for catefrances...this one's for you!

    it might be crazy but it works. but as the puritan values your nation was founded on become less applicable such 'propaganda' will lose it potency and become just myth. it is then that america will truly become land of the free. for ALL.

    Thank you...I'm so excited to get this over with. However, even in a class of students (there are like 10 of us) that are pretty liberal, I am considered the 'crazy' left one of us all, so I believe that it will only be fitting. Still I have to say "I'll stand over your grave til I'm sure that you're dead". So, even I am nervous about presenting it that way so it is going to be interesting to see how my committee, parents and in-laws react to that shit. November 14 at 8 am EST is when I go on...I'll let you know how it goes.

    P.S. I don't believe in jesus, but it's a quote ;).
    P.P.S. I have to teach tomorrow so I'll save the first natty of tomorrow for you.

    if one were inclined to follow catholicism/christianity, as my family is, they would believe that, hence my apprehension over repeating the quote...still it fits.

    i am an atheist and i believe it. ive never doubted the existence of jesus. its his divinity where i disagree with christians.

    Alright...I defended it, "Masters of War" and all. I passed w/ revisions and got those in today. It is over I am Dr. King-White!!!

    hahaha...fair enough. i'm glad i wasn't really paying attention to philadelphia being happy. at least i still have the Eagles and their sucksmanship.
