Hey:

I directed my first film this year - a short film called The Wintress.

We posted a trailer on YouTube this week - check it out and let me know what you think.

    I'm assuming you want more than for people to just tell you its great, but I'll shoot straight, and I hope you take no offense. The trailer runs for less than a minute, and you fade to black a lot. When you fade to black why not overdub or slip in some writing that gives your audience some kind of idea of what the story is. A mystery is one thing, but maybe you made it too clouded in mystery. Just saying.
    Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

    Much appreciated on the feedback culot...

    It's a little tricky - it's a short - only 17 minutes - so doing any longer of a trailer could give away too much...

    And we went with simple fades vs. adding text (I've always felt that is kind of hitting people over the head with it...). We wanted to go with a simple teaser where people really were left with wanting to know more... so we've done that, but it doesn't please everyone.

    Others have echoed your comments - but because of the shortness, I didn't want to give away more. Thanks for the feedback...
