I was thinking about getting into a routine of deep thought and concentration as a way of starting the day but i dont really know how to meditate or the best way/place/time to do it.
Anyone do it?

probably the biggest thing is to lose focus or be so focused that you are unfocused.second is your brain will continually try to creep in.return to your starting point.very calming, centering way to start the day.

    Good luck

  • I sit in a quiet area, alone, in the dark, close my eyes and concentrate on deep, slow and regular breathing. Not sure if this is a proper form of meditation, but it works for me!

    Enjoy!

  • Focus on a spot in the sky!!!

    :p
  • Focus on a spot in the sky!!!

    :p

But then you might get distracted by a human being that was given to fly...

Any action you do that is mindful and enhances your awareness is meditational.
I have been told that in a temple, there is almost no verbal communication and people seem to be in syncronicity with each other.

I usually go lakeside and let my heart and soul combine with nature. We have a dormant volcano that looks like a silhouette of an Indian princess, so it's allways peaceful to commune with the energy surrounding her legend, as well as ancient life that existed here.

    i meditate about everyday.
usually i do it before bed but not always.
meditation in the woods is best, or at the beach.

    breathing is important.
    breathe in your nose
    exhale out mouth
clear your mind as best you can.
    that'll get you relaxed.

i usually almost always fall asleep when meditating.

breathing always allows me to remove my awareness on any tensions or motions that are consuming that state of peacefulness...

and yes, i usually fall into a slumber...

Well, it doesn't hurt to buy one of those meditational books that have a philosophical proverb for each day of the year.

I don't have one of those books, but I do try to pick a subject to ponder while I meditate. It can be anything that will capture your attention for an extending period of time.

It's true that meditation is relaxing and stress-reducing, but it also is a state of deep concentration that actually changes your brain chemistry over time. So, the objective is to pick a topic that will keep your brain stimulated. Meditation is cited as actually being able to reverse brain damage on many occasions.

Sometimes I will just pick a mental picture of a landscape and focus on specific details of that mental picture. For example, if it consists of a river, I will focus on the physical appearance of the river, the direction of flow...etc.

I tried a zen-meditation course. That helps getting you on the way. I wrote a blog about my experiences with meditation. It is still online though I dont post there often anymore. I am having trouble meditating, bc I am usually to energetic. But it would help me greatly if I did it more often!

Maybe we can start with some ppl on here...!!

    The website; http://meditation-air.blogspot.com

You'll find some good links to other meditation websites there too!

I have listened to meditation cds before...and they are very helpful...my dad is a nut with meditation, acupuncture and homeopathic medicine.

when I went to rehab with my husband they had us do mindful breathing where you focus on in thru your nose as far as you can...then out thru your mouth....feeling it in your belly. Mostly focusing on your breathing and letting other thoughts pass out of your mind. It was helpful...but I was sitting next to my husband who was going thru withdrawal at the time and he was extremely tense and I could feel it....it was hard to relax while sitting next to him for that reason OHHH and the reason that he had asked for a divorce THEN asked me to attend rehab cause he NEEDED me! lol

I prefer the Cd's over the mindful breathing....just my opinion.
Good luck with it, meditation can really make you feel refreshed.

I also like breathing in colors and exhaling them lighter after they reach my fingertips and toes.
