    Isn't ABC2 a free channel?

Glad to see it's back on again. :)

ABC2 is not pay tv. If your tv doesn't get ABC2 then I think you need to buy a set top box (about $40-$70) to get HD telly, but it's free to air otherwise. If you rush out and buy on in the next two days you can still catch it :)

Is that the one with Laird Hamilton?

One thing you might find interesting is how EV kept using his poetic powers to express and encapsulate what Laird Hamilton does. Instead of using up the show's time to talk about himself, EV instead spent almost the whole episode devoting himself to turning Laird's life into a form of artistic expression.

There is a scene when Ed and Laird are watching the waves and Ed goes something like, "You know I was thinking that when you're out there surfing those big waves, what you're doing is giving those waves scale."

It's obvious that Laird is a person who is more focused on physical achievement as opposed to intellectual prowess. Not to say that the guy is dumb, but in comparison to Ed's linguistically creative mechanisms, there isn't a comparison.

And so what Ed did was probably communicate Laird's thoughts in a way they've never before been communicated. I remember thinking what an honor that must be to have one's own actions and thoghts conveyed through the eyes of someone like Ed.

ABC2 is free if you have a set top box to receive it.

Used to watch it long before we got Pay TV at our place. :)

Pacifier already said ABC2 is NOT a pay TV channel, goose.

Before we got pay TV at our place we had a set top box and used to get ABC2.

i just saw this for the first time last night, and that's exactly what i was thinking! it seemed like ed was blowing laird's mind a few times with his take on different aspects on surfing and the ocean. good stuff. i can't believe i hadn't watched it before, but i just found out that they're offering it on itunes!

They both seemed stoned as hell in that scene on the cliff.

Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. But that's just how they seemed. Even moreso the 2nd time around.

I saw it on the Bio channel a couple of weeks ago. It was ok, love anything ed, but it seemed a bit pointless to me. And the other guy in it, the surfer guy, is a bit of a wanker....... just my take anyway.

Obviously. Go out and buy one then, they're worth it.

Glad it's back on because I lost my recording of the one they had on pay TV a few weeks ago. :D

    wah
  • it was so great to see Ed on tv, which gave an insight into his life when he's not doing music, his intelligence and also clips of PJ playin was very kool.
  • I thought it was awesome. The scenery was incredible. I love the part when they're in the helicopter and Eddie said something about the whole in the rock being the Key to the universe.
