    A Glock 17 is a really nice 9mm....compact size...easy to use.

    slow down.

I think you need to speak with your supervisor at work! You feel like you need a gun to protect yourself against someone at work?! Something is VERY bad I must imagine. Please speak to someone before you get a gun. If you have kids in the house its never totally safe to have a gun..

edit: seems I imagined that you said you had kids, and I thought you were a guy.. but that doesn't matter... REPORT this problem to someone asap!

The thing is, I don't feel comfortable with having a gun in my house, nor does my boyfriend.

Anyways, do you think the gun idea is a bad one?
There's your answer right there. If you don't feel comfortable with owning and/or using a gun, then do not get one.

Like cutback has posted, there are other alternatives to make your home more secure.
  • Anyways, do you think the gun idea is a bad one?

YES. It won't help you protect yourself. if this person really is a threat have you tried calling the police? do you have a concrete reason to think he is out to get you?

and what about a home security system??? that seems like it would do much better than a gun!
  • You should get a spud gun. Your country wants you to.

Smells fishy, but I will bite.
    No.
You don't know how to use it and what are you going to do??? Walk around with it tucked in the back of your pants all day?
    Guns suck.
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
  • couldn't you just carry a knife, or pepper spray?
having/carrying a gun comes with A LOT of responsibility. are you really prepared to possibly kill this guy.
what if he tries to approach you, angrily and you get scared and pull a gun, would you shoot him, or just carry it to threaten him if it comes to that?

a knife can be just as lethal as a gun
  • Holy shit. This cat must really be bad news if it leads you to think you need something like that. However, I think getting a piece is a bit of overkill. cb has a point. Get something nonlethal that will get the job done without ending someone's life cycle.

If I may ask, how did you piss this person off at you specifically? And if he's a dog fighter, how did he get hired at a animal shelter. That's like a that's like a pedophile and beastiality suspect getting hired at a children's petting zoo

I agree. Good call on the security system.

Also agree with reporting the problem to a supervisor. Plus, If an actual threat has been made you can petition for a protection order.

My husband doesn't want any guns in our home, 'cause I told him if we had one I would SHOOT THE TELEVISION. :p

  • I wouldn't carry it with me everywhere, just for the house really.
And as far as going to a supervisor, they actually like him. You see, I work for Williamson County, not Travis County which is actually Austin. Williamson county is full of country bumpkins who think everyone is a good ole boy. And this guy is definately not. My supervisor is friends with him, and would probably tell him what I said. Other people have suspected her of telling him when people complain about him. I could write a whole page for you of reasons why he should have been fired already, including falsifying(sp?) his timecard, which since we have a gov. job is a federal offense, but he still works there. I mean, the guy is a suspected dogfighter for fucks sake.

I know it sucks, but I would look for another job if I were you.. time to wash your hands clean of this mess. I would rather find a new job then get a gun and stay there all scared of what would happen.

well i'm sure this isn't an option, but maybe you should quit.....but if you get a gun and at some point have to use it, are you prepared to possibly end someone's life? even a waster of space like this guy? seriously, get some nonlethal options and maybe inform the cops...
