she and or her husband worked their entier lives probably to have that, you cant say oh well, just because someone down the street was less fortunate.
i think all the comments about boo hoo, and what about this person are sad.
thank you
im not trying to make people feel bad for me or my family i just want to make people aware....most of the money was in a "safe" place but the remaining money thats left isn't going to get my grandma through 3-4 years from now, and now I have to take out a student loan that I wasn't planning on taking at all which is going to be about 500 a month once I graduate...my moms remaining money has to get her through the next few years because my step dad lost his job so shes the main provider...do you have any idea how hard it is to get a job these days?
for you people saying "boohoo"...try working your WHOLE life, losing your significant other while raising 2 kids, traveling 2 hours each way to the city until your 67...just so you can be comfortable when you retire, and then a year into retirement, all of that was for nothing2003: Uniondale, MSG x2 | 2004: Reading | 2005: Gorge, Vancouver, Philly | 2006: East Rutherford x2, Gorge x2, Camden 1, Hartford | 2008: MSG x2, VA Beach | 2009: Philly x3 | 2010: MSG x2, Bristow | 2011: Alpine Valley x2 | 2012: MIA Philly | 2013: Wrigley, Charlottesville, Brooklyn 2 | 2014: Milan, Amsterdam 1 | 2016: MSG x2, Fenway x2, Wrigley 2 | 2018: Rome, Krakow, Berlin, Wrigley 2 | 2021: Sea Hear Now | 2022: San Diego, LA x2, MSG, Camden, Nashville, St. Louis, Denver | 2023: St. Paul 1, Chicago x2, Fort Worth x2, Austin 2 | 2024: Las Vegas 1, Seattle x2, Indy, MSG x2, Philly x2, Baltimore, Ohana 2 | 2025: Florida x2, Atlanta x2, Pittsburgh x20 -

Did he not say they may have to sell his mother's car? I already know he drives a BMW.

the wolf wrote:i did read his post. go back and read my response. look i dont know many well off people. and im broke as fuck, but i cant hate on people losing their retirement, just because they had more to lose than others.
thats just fucking stupid.
Look, the OP Grandma took a big hit on the stock because she got greedy or recieved very bad advice on 401k. She still is not broke. I don't really sympathize with her because she took a risk. She should have known the risks that were involved before taking the plunge. I took a beating as well as the rest of America. Everything now is hindsight.
I can sympathize with the OP on his parents trying to pay for his/her college and not being able too because of the market crash. This was probably the only way they would have been able to afford college and had to take the risk. Talk about bad timing. I guess the best they can do is to take a loan out and hopefully the market will recover in 5-10 years to pay off the loans. All is not lost though.0 -

what a shitty thing to say.
thats a shitty thing to say to the many many millions of folk who havent got a fucking bean.. and you think $1,000,000 aint shit?
perhaps america needs a shock to its system... a million bucks is a lot of money.. if it isnt then you have way too much.oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

im unemployed and broke, my gf and i are living on her income which is under 40k a year.
im saying, life investement, and maintianing a certain lifestyle , a million dollars wont take you as far. a million isnt what it used to be. would it make MY life better, fuck yeah. but if you have worked your ass off all your life to have a million to live the rest of your life on, while taking care of someone else, thats really not a ton.
i come from a poor ass family. my dad owned his own buisness and sitll only brought home 500 bucks a week. so im not saying that its not a lot. im just saying if thats your nest egg, and you lose almost half of it, you are semi fucked .
thats all. dont get you skirt in a uproar.Peace, Love.
