Good-Bye Long Island

I have 2 more days left on Long Island, until I move back down to Virginia for my second year of school but I will be living down there for good until I graduate. I have 2 days left on the island, and the first half it sucked but after re-visiting some beaches and events, I don't want to leave.

Maybe it's not just LI, but NY...new york is my love, shes my baby. I've lived here my whole life, i grew up here....my first kiss was here, lost my virginity here, got in trouble here, went to school here, partied here....hard to say good-bye and only come back to just "visit"

But a new chapter starts Sunday morning. I hope this good-bye is to everything that sucks about LI, good-bye to the people that suck and have made life more difficult than it has to be. I wouldn't be surprised if after I graduate I will write a thread that says "good-bye virginia, oh hello again new york"...haha

i love long island. always have, always will. there is shit everywhere and i find the good far outweighs the bad. ok, well myabe not the property taxes ...but all else makes it soooo worthwhile to me, and thus why i stay. :) i love NYC too, and that proximity is a BIG plus, and really, i feel 'close' to everywhere...b/c we have people from all over and it is so easy to go and travel all over from this very spot.

i too once considered moving away, vermont.....hubby had a job transfer and everything. for numerous reasons we changed our minds, stayed put, bought our house 12 years ago and set down our roots here. not to say that someday we wouldn't want to move elsewhere, who knows? right now tho, long island has always been and will continue to be my home.

enjoy your journey wherever it takes you! :)

    nassau...close to the city. :)
very well located to enjoy what long island and NYC have to offer. i work in NYC, and i easily walk to/from the LIRR and home, i truly LOVE where i live. 15-20 minutes north or south i am at the beach....40 minutes west in am in the heart of manhattan.....1-1.5 hours i am at the wineries or the hamptons. there is SO much to enjoy 'right' where i live, and so much more so close by.

and hey, i totally understand. i was a commuter student for most of my college years, but i did study abroad 1.5 years and it was great to live and travel, and i LOVE to travel...just another part of my love for NY.
