i have to compare Hamlet and Gatsby as characters in 10 pages

    This is why i dont go to college, or if this is done for high school then that sucks
    I'll be in the neighborhood later on, and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to get some frozen yogurt, or perhaps a whole meal of food, if that would be agreeable. Damnit.

    Apart from exercizing and growing your grammar/writing skills, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills; which are all need for a quality job, it won't really benefit you.

    It's a college paper

    The funny thing is that I have to revise this again by May 6th to hand in with my 3 other papers for my final grade.

    My real question is: WHO THE FUCK CARES?

    I mean I know the answer and what to say, but to put it in 10 pages? I can summarize how they compare in a page, 3 at most.

    the people who are going to care are the people who are going to hire you as there new english teacher, aside from that no one will care

    Does it suck now? (on a 75+ degree in eastern MA?) of course it does. Will it benefit you later? Yes.

    I'd gladly head back to high school and college and do it all over again if I could. I'd be much better off now had I not been such an f'ing slacker then.

    its a mandatory class

    last semester, my english class was about learning how to express yourself and your views in any type of paper and being successful at it...and that was actually fun even though I had a 25 page paper at the end of the semester due.

    this is just as eric cartman says: "this is BULLCRAP"

    Sounds like you're going to have a lot of what my old high school English teacher called "fluff" in your paper. She always said that if your argument merited only 3 pages, write those 3 pages and don't try to put too much bs in it. Good luck with getting those extra 7 pages. If it were me I know I'd need all the help I could get. Us computer people don't do literature papers that well...

    well gatsby was great. how does he measure up to hamlet in that regard? that's at least three pages...

    use specific examples, use and quote paragraphs/lines from both books. the quotes will take up plenty of space by themselves and you can analyze each excerpt for at least a paragraph. put contrasting excerpts followed by comparative excerpts, or whatever order. bring yourself into your work, write how YOU would see them interacting with each other, etc.

    be creative, out of the box, the norm, the generic, the BORING. you'll do just fine.

    Teachers always seem to like when you have a 'self realization moment' while writing a paper they assigned. So, force yourself to have one, and make it obvious in your paper. :p

    Also, I agree, if you can write something really good in 3 pages, but it needs to be 10, why do they make you BS the other 7? In cases like this, use this little trick. In MS Word or whatever, go-i think;edit->find->replace-[.](a period)->[another period 16 font.] Should maybe bump you up a page. More if you go higher font. Just be careful.

    16 might be pushing it. I use 14. But only on papers that don't need to be sent electronically. Cause if it's sent through email or something, and they see it somehow, watch out.

    instead of double space i do it at 2.1 and it gives me an extra half page for every 3 1/2 pages


    6 done....goin to bed for 4-5 hours and then up again to do it!

    i gotta do another one of these next week but with a completely different book and i have 2 more as my final papers for other classes...ughhh
