Go Mason! I was at the UConn game at the Elite 8 which was a de facto home game for the Pats...incredible is about the only way to describe that experience.
  • Hey now. Leave VCU alone. I root for all CAA teams. (Oh, and in High School I used to play pep band for William and Mary at the CAA tourney)
    9/7/98, 8/3/00, 9/4/00, 4/15/03, 7/1/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 5/24/06, 5/25/06, 6/17/08, 6/22/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 5/17/10, 10/15/13, 10/16/13.

Go William & Mary.....if they get in, it should help the seeding of my team, the Winthrop Eagles! We'll take all the help we can get right now.

go radford (we suck these days) though when I was in school RU was one of the better teams in the Big South.

so you were there late 90s, early 00s?

there were some pretty epic (for the Big South) games between Radford and Winthrop back in those days

hiring Byron Samuels as coach was the worst move your program could have made after Ron Bradley left.....he killed the program, although I think Greenberg will be able to build it up

Yep, late 90's. I've been to the Dedmond center for an RU Winthrop game. I also went to Liberty for a game and the Conference tourney once too. (I hate Liberty in so many ways)

I root for all of the mid atlantic conferences. I hope Winthrop does well, they've been hosed many times in the seeding.

I've been to the Dedmond a few times for WU-RU games. It's a fun trip when you take a chartered bus so you can drink all day :) When you get to the place, you look at the Dedmond and you're thinking it's gonna be a nice place, then you get inside and it's kind of crappy. Worst in the conference is Charleston Southern's though.

We've only been hosed in seeding once. That was the year we were a 15 playing Tennessee, but Tennessee was overranked, so it was more like a 3-14 game than a 2-15 game. I think they hosed us on seeding that year so we could play relatively close to home in Greensboro. Damn Chris Lofton for that lucky shot at the end. I thought they were generous with our seeding last year, but we proved them right as we beat Notre Dame.

I'm actually a UConn fan, but was teaching at GMU that semester, and went with my future wife. I told her two nights prior that if UConn came back against Washington (which was ridiculous) that we were definitely going to the game. Anyway we sat in the Mason student section, so it was hard to root for UConn...plus that was one of the least likeable squads the Huskies have put out for awhile. Teaching at Mason was awesome that semester, but it sucked that they got there against my actual favorite team...so I do not want a rematch ever again.
  • Yeah the Dedmond Center looks like a mini-metro dome. The roof is held up by air too. Then you get in there and it's a glorified gym.

VCU has a really nice court.

Don't go sleeping on Bill and Mary.

(Anyone ever see the Thanksgiving episode of the original Bob Newhart show when Bob and Jerry are watching the William & Mary game, Jerry's alma mater, and they have to take a slug of moonshine every time W&M gives up a score, and they suffer their worst defeat in history...funny stuff)
    This weekend we rock Portland
